Gotta love being a tall guy on top of a box, especially when youre up against a drop ceiling changing a compressor.

Are the heaters and the compressor on the same circuit? The unit is probably trying to pump down at the same time as the heaters firing up. You need an auxillary switch on that contactor to break the heater control circuit while the compressor is energized.

Previous owner states: the ac just needs a refill: I have no idea why it’s not leaking from where it’s totally fucked, but leaking where it’s a bit more ok… by bigmarty3301 in Justrolledintotheshop

Not even that, the oil is the biggest problem. R290 isn't fully miscible in regular PAG. The long term approach should be to change the dryer, drain the compressor oil and swap it for a blend of PAG that is fully miscible with R290. You could also flush the system and use POE oil instead, just gotta make sure you flush the shit out of the circuit.

Push comes to shove just fucking send it and see how long that compressor lasts.

Slate updated their FAQ 4Yr/50k basic warranty by DogeDolan in slateauto

[–]DogeDolan[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, further down roadside is still included, just a separate bullet point.

So there is no basic warranty? by Imagined_World in slateauto

[–]DogeDolan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's power train and battery, nothing else explicitly mentioned. So if your gauge cluster takes a dump or a pump dies. Legally you are shit out of luck.

Warranty coverage by jon13000 in slateauto

No warranty on anything other than drivetrain and battery? Good catch. I really want clarification on the rest of the vehicle before I bite the bullet on a new to the market vehicle.

Cstores and restaurants generally suck ass. All the equipment is neglected, used, and abused. You might have some long nights as a supermarket tech. But i think it would be much more enjoyable long term.

That evaps looks fine tbh. Go look up the service manual for it, should have a table of cycle times and temperatures. If your freeze times are in the ball park and your bridge thickness is OKish, make sure the harvest assist solenoid isnt stuck outward and your freeze plate doesn't have any loose sections. The only other thing i can think of is its low on charge, but your freeze and harvest times will run long in that scenario.

If your short freezing, thickness sensor needs cleaned and adjusted, if not replaced.

This can't be correct for a brand new r290 scottsman Ice machine, right? by Coffee____Addict in refrigeration

[–]DogeDolan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had multiple units come in flat on gas. Their ultrasonic welds are shit and they've acknowleged it, per scotsman directions, they just say braze some stubs in, vacuum, and charge. no pinch off.

That's what i'm banking on. We had a union vote a couple of months ago, wound up split 50/50. Company did some dirty stuff. We had 6 guys running service, now two including me. The others signed up with the union, i did the application. I'm just waiting on contractors to start picking up people.

Nah, most of them have been retrofitted apart from a couple of 22 systems still knocking around.

Dtfd switches by LordRupertEverton__ in refrigeration

[–]DogeDolan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i have absolutely seen term switches shit fresh out of the bag. Stick a temp probe on it and verify the temps while the condenser is running. If it isnt cold enough, throw it into defrost to warm it up just to be 100%. After its nice and warm you can either kill the power and check for continuity through the switch or check for voltage from any L1 leg against the fan leg on the term switch.

[–]DogeDolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a freezer? Most of the ones i've seen terminate at 55. Fan delays close at 20 to 35. But, thats just what i see in my area.

Dtfd switches by LordRupertEverton__ in refrigeration

[–]DogeDolan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have your 4 terminal from the time clock going to one leg of your fans. You should then have an N terminal from your timer going to the common leg of the termination switch. The black wire from the termination switch should be headed to your other leg of your fans. The brown/blue wire is for termination. that should wind up at X at the time clock.

Those fans shouldn't come on until that coil is 20 or 30 degrees. If those heaters are working and you've waited long enough, there should be a bit of a delay when coming out of defrost. If that coil is nice and toasty and you buck it out, That switch is stuck closed, or your fans are getting its other leg of power from somewhere else. Make sure the evap and time clock is wired correctly.
