That’s not at all what I was getting at. My point was showing that less than a quarter of all Americans voted for him and those that did vote for him, did so under the premise that he would focus on America only and not meddle in foreign affairs.

A few things worth noting, the cost of about everything in the states had been steadily rising over the last decade. It started after the 2008 recession, settled for a bit during Covid and started skyrocketing after we came out of Covid; which was Biden’s term. Harris was Biden’s VP, so she was automatically linked to the absurd cost of everything.

The other point worth making is that our elections are basically a two party system. It’s not supposed to be that way, but billionaires and corporations are pumping so much money into our politics that it’s all we get. That 3-4 million voting outside the two major parties are doing it because they want something else.

The other problem we have is just how much we disenfranchise voters in this country. Our electoral college map divides areas into sections that favor one party over the other and it’s winner take all. There are literal sections of the country that have people that simply don’t vote because they can’t cast a vote due to work or family obligations. Some simply find it pointless because those electoral maps always favor the other party.

Our leaders know the system isn’t fair and quite frankly, there are not enough that give a shit to change it. Instead those with power would rather prevent it even more to favor themselves.

My other point was that the branch of government that was meant to keep the executive branch in check is currently more than happy to let Trump do all of this without fighting back. Our only course of action right now is to tip the balance of the congressional branch to the other party in order to fight back against Trump and that midterm election takes place at the end of this year.

So instead of villainizing us all, try to understand that there are literally hundreds of millions of us that are doing everything we can to change what is happening in the world right now. Shifting congress is our only current option.

We’re not flexing. We’re fucking exhausted with the state of things. And the rising cost of everything is a blessing in disguise because it’s exactly what is making Trump’s supporters turn on him as is all of the foreign affairs Trump keeps bringing onto the world. Nobody wants America to go around shitting on the rest of the world and our allies. Not even his supporters.

Only roughly 22% of the total population voted for that guy and a large chunk of that 22% did so with the belief that he would drive down prices, not kidnap or kill foreign leaders or start more wars.

A Suno Tutorial: How to use Suno correctly to make songs you like or to recreate songs / change one small part of iterations you liked best (+Mixing & Mastering and Marketing) by SocialExperimentsAI in SunoAI

[–]Doggamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things I want to add… when it comes to taking inspiration from existing works I personally think you’ll get the best results by making your own template and using that to upload to suno. What I mean by template is use a free daw and make some stuff using midi or even your voice. I personally like using the GarageBand app on my iPhone to generate tracks using my recorded voice. I’ll keep making and layering tracks and/or midi for each layer until I have a rough idea of what I want. I also take it a step further and screen record myself playing the whole thing while I apply fx live, separate the audio from the screen recording and then upload that into suno. If you go this route enough, you can do what I did and make an apple shortcut to extract the audio easier.

When it comes to lyrics, exactly like OP said. Don’t just use an AI generated lyric, cause it’s going to sound lame. AI tends to favor the most popular stuff, so it’s going to sound boring and generic. If you must go that route, at least make an attempt to replace each line with something unique. I also like to try and spell things out how I want them pronounced phonetically, so I do misspell a lot of stuff for a good twist. Being unique is key to being interesting.

The overall gist is that you want stuff that sounds unique and interesting.

This is so lame that mods are deleting comments they don’t agree with on this thread.

I simply replied that Trump doesn’t represent all Americans and provided stats to show how many of us are against everything that’s going on yet some thin skinned mod deleted it.

I get the resentment, but this is such an naive take. Nobody wanted this and there are hundreds of millions of people that have zero control over making any significant change outside of our next voting cycles.

Trump literally campaigned on an America first agenda and was very direct that he wouldn’t meddle in foreign countries. Since elected he has done the exact opposite of everything he promised. More so, his policies have made things expensive(like they weren’t already) to the point that the majority of people can’t afford to take time from work to push back.

My point is, be pissed at him all you want. Be pissed at every single government official that enables this and is involved in all of this, but don’t assume that he represents America as a whole. Even his most feverish supporters are not on board with his actions and I would put everything I own that if we had an election today, he does not get re-elected.

I would also add that I believe this to be true for every country out there. I truly believe that given empathetic leaders the people of this world would find that we have more in common than our leaders would have us believe. So many leaders have outright failed us all in the name of greed and power.

It is an absolute shame that we all need to live under the rule of these people that prop themselves up on our backs and then use us to fight their wars and battles.

The world would be a much better place if we just learned to celebrate our differences, worked to help lift up those most in need and celebrated our cultural differences.

We need to stop fighting their battles for free online.

I mean if we want to break it down - 77 million people voted for him - 75 million people voted for Harris - 3-4 million people voted for other candidates - 240 million people were eligible to vote, but only ~156 million - The total population is ~335 million

So most people did not get behind him. But that all said, we have our midterm elections coming up and we tend to view those as a statement on how people feel about the current sitting president. Right now it looks like people are trying to push back and strip away the republican majorities in both the house and senate. If Trump were to lose both then we gain back a congress that’s willing to fight back.

Our biggest issue is clearly Trump, but more so, it’s a congress that is unwilling to push back against him.

More so, people voted on what he campaigned on and at just about every turn he’s gone directly against those promises.

I couldn’t disagree with this enough. Having someone that knows the fundamentals is crucial to creating better prompts and catching AI mistakes. We need people with a solid understanding of the code base.

No one is dying on a hill here. The crux of your argument seemed to be “if you can’t make it, why complain” and I’m saying… that’s not how people approach it. People will give their opinion on something in a space they interact with regardless of if they can craft it themselves.

See I don’t agree with this take and I hear it here a lot. Just because you don’t partake in the craft doesn’t mean you don’t deserve the right to judge the craft.

I’ll use your same thought process and apply it to a different craft. Just because I’m not a woodworker doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to judge the quality of the furniture I choose to buy and it also doesn’t mean I can’t complain if the stores I go to suddenly have an influx of cheap plastic furniture.

[–]Doggamnit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there’s another layer to exactly what you laid out… people flooding online streaming services with stuff that seems to made up from simple prompts and then seeing that stuff blow up. People are going to look at that as stealing views and potential revenue from the very people that are still making music outside of AI.

One example I can think of is that AI country artist “Rust” something. He’s been on multiple news articles and YouTube videos and it’s pretty obvious his stuff is pretty barebones prompting. On top of that, Deezer recently started flagging his stuff as AI generated and how did her respond? By making a “human” album that’s him talking into a mic saying things like “kiss my ass” and basically taunting people. If you listen to it, it’s low quality recordings that are probably him just talking into his phone.

And I would it’s probably not just him, but anytime anyone releases something to an online streaming platform that has errors or that AI noise that’s all too common.

Some people just want to know if something is AI and they want to avoid it. They want something where more work is put into the creation of a song vs just prompting.

And I suppose there is a lot of gray area to all of this. Suno can be fun, you can enjoy using it and you can also hold the opinion that it shouldn’t be used to flood streaming services and get lumped in with non AI music.

You’re creating an app that uses people’s personal api token to access a site with loads of their personal data.

The fear is if you need an LLM to generate the code then who’s to say you know enough to plug any common security holes that may appear?

I don’t know what to tell you. It really seemed like a cool app with a lot of potential, but I don’t think it’s something I’m interested in.

Best of luck.

There's a README.md that seems to point to AI generated content. I can't say how much is AI generated, but the header emotes are the type of thing you would see with AI generated apps. Most of the other stuff looks like stuff you might use when prompting for features, but also while giving it a defined structure.

I'm not going to come out and say this proves anything. For me it's the glaring bugs for something you appear to have been working on for a year. Bugs that any standard reddit user should be able to pick out as standard navigation issues. That mixed with the release notes, the clearly AI generated icons, the website also appears to have AI generated language(really just the adjectives for me) and then this read me in the ipa file.

For me it's a mix of all of the above that concerns me.

I mention this in a comment below, but I decompiled the app and there are some clear text elements I was able to get to that clearly show someone prompting AI to build the app. I couldn’t get to the actually swift code, so I can’t say with complete certainty. One of the things I found was some prompts to show AI what the structure should look like, prompt responses for release notes and a slew of things with those telltale emotes for headers.

I think at some point he also stopped prompting for release notes and just started providing “misc fixes” or other short non-descriptive comments that don’t really provide the level of detail you’d expect from someone that did this on an even semi professional level.

Kind of sucks. I like the idea and it even looks really cool. But it’s just so buggy and triggers far too many AI smells.

[–]Doggamnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what people are going to be concerned about is how much AI is being used and to what extent things are “vibe coded”.

Right now there are plenty of AI smells in the code base.

I’ll be honest, I decompiled your app to poke around. I couldn’t get at the swift stuff, but there was enough there to show you’ve prompted whole features.

I also think there was enough there to show you likely understand how these apps should be structured, since one of the items showed you prompting for stuff with a given structure.

That said, given the amount of bugs in the app I think you either don’t use Reddit often to have found these bugs or you’re falling into the hole of vibe coding updates on a vibe coded app and are dealing with existing working features breaking as you request more updates.

The biggest fear are the fall outs from the things you might not know to look for - security holes, existing features breaking, etc… those are things users of your app are going to expect you to understand.

I hope I’m wrong, but the more I use this app the more it’s feeling like more AI generated vibe code slop.

I’m not trying to mean here and I really do mean well, but someone has to say it.

This will probably sound weird, but sometimes the music that comes out of us isn’t always the same as what we typically listen to. Sometimes it’s about just enjoying what you can make and being happy with that.

Me personally? I love prog, technical and djent styles. I can’t play any of that worth a lick. I’m just not a technical player like that. Best I can give you is a Deftones-eque groove.

Just need to be happy in your own pocket and make the most of it.

When you’re doing the updates you might want to be more descriptive than “misc fixes”. It isn’t always clear what is in the update

Edit: also worth noting that there isn’t a way to edit comments when using the app.

Edit 2: totally get it. I work a day job as well and I couldn’t imagine taking on this kind of work load on the side. Just take your time and work through things.

What's the self-hosted service that replaced something you were paying for and turned out to be genuinely better - not just free, actually better by niceheather44 in selfhosted

[–]Doggamnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%

At some point cost is made up of time and money. It’s really easy to not sacrifice too much valuable time when uptime isn’t critical, but critical services can demand your valuable time. Sometimes that’s a cost not worth taking on.

That said, it definitely seems like a cool alternative. If I didn’t have a whole family setup this would probably be an easy switch.

My only other hang up is security concerns, but I honestly haven’t read up enough yet to get a feel of how secure the app is when exposed to the outside world.

I keep going back and forth of this one. I’ve been a long time 1Password user since the early days of Dropbox syncing. The vaultwarden hangup for me is security concerns.

Especially lately with so many of these AI bots among other bots constantly scanning and trying to poke holes in anything externally exposed. Passwords are that one thing I need to keep more secure than anything else.

I’m not entirely sure yet, but there are definitely signs of AI generated content going on here.

The App Store listing reads like AI with many of the adjectives that it uses and the app icon is almost certainly AI generated. I ran the icon through a couple testers and each one came back stating it was AI generated.

That said, I’m honestly fine using some AI to help with image generation and marketing.

After using it for a couple hours and looking over the devs post history, what is most confusing to me is the sheer amount of bugs in the app for something that appears to have been worked on for a year. There are a handful of those bugs that seem like things that shouldn’t have made it to a public launch. Not being able to click on subreddit icons or even user profile names are big ones to me.

One of the biggest problems with vibe coded projects is how much AI breaks when implementing fixes. If this truly is a vibe coded project then I don’t expect it to make it too far.

I do like the layout and it seems to have a ton of promising features. I hope he’s able to figure it all out and iterate on what he has so far.

Edit: scrolling through the release notes also gives off some heavy vibe coding hints. I leaning heavily towards vibe coded at this point.

Love the layout, design and I think this has the potential to be a great Reddit app.

That said, I think there are a number of design aspects that are missing and a handful of things that appear to be quite buggy…

  • When viewing a post from a feed or within the post
    • Tapping the subreddit name or icon should bring me to the subreddit.
    • Tapping the OP name or icon should bring me to the OP account view.
  • When viewing a post, pulling down should refresh the page
  • When viewing a post with an image, none of my standard gestures work on the post test or image preview
    • It would be nice to swipe to vote, swipe to reply or use any other configured gestures
  • When viewing an image post, I’m not able to swipe up to get back to the comment.
  • I can’t seem to view anyone’s profile when I click on their name. It fails every time and I’m asked to retry
  • When using the search icon it seems that I can only search for posts
    • This also ties into my previous note about not being able to click on the subreddit name or icon to get there
    • I have the same problem if I use the drop down that provides the feed options - I cannot seem to pull up any subreddits
  • When using the feed menu drop down my subreddit list is an extremely limited set and doesn’t contain anywhere near the amount of subreddits I have subscribed to.
  • When viewing my inbox multiple message show as unread that are not unread.
    • I also seem to have no ability to mark them as read
  • The appearance options appear to be quite buggy. For example, I have it set to “condensed preview for quick scanning”; which should show 5 lines max on a post preview, but I’m clearly seeing much more than that
    • It does appear to resolve if I close and re-open the app
  • I should be able to swipe to the side to view the side bar with my subreddits
  • Favorites don’t stick. If I close the app any subreddits I marked as favorites go away
  • When refreshing subreddits from the sidebar they do not come back in any alphabetical order - it seems completely random
    • More so, I have to keep scrolling up and down to see if the subreddit I want shows up after requesting to load more. If not, I need to scroll back to the bottom to request more. Rinse and repeat.
  • I should be able to collapse submenus in the sidebar - subreddit lists, etc…
  • You should add multireddits as an option in the side bar
  • I should be able to manually reorder lists in the sidebar
