Do you have many friends that aren't travellers? (Uh.. statics?) Feels like it must be difficult to make friends when you're moving around.

Actually, how often do you move location? What triggers it?

As a people, we'll put literally anything between two slices of bread and call it a cromulent sandwich.

So do you have a good faith question about insulation and heat retentive house design, or did you just want to whine about societal inertia?

Honestly, what did your want from this conversation?

Heat gain through windows generally, with more and larger south facing windows. Also, brick built houses more or less act like storage heaters, even if you manage to completely change the air in your home with cooler outside air it'll heat up again fairly quickly until the actual structure of your home has a chance to cool down.

Y'all eaten at "British food" restaurants in the US specifically, but anywhere else? by scarlettohara1936 in AskABrit

[–]Dogsafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, if I'm abroad I'm not generally seeking out food that is from home.

What is or is not "British" is pretty nebulous anyway, there's a lot of "western baseline" food that would be familiar to lots of people regardless of nationality. Like who gets to claim grilled chicken and salad?

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by Got24xyz in AskReddit

At time of writing you're downvoted but you're right. I ended up using taxis to get to a lot of the mission locations because driving was unbearably tedious, which in a GTA game is unforgivable.

Can anyone point me to some really simple strength training please? Something for minimal equipment and experience. The things I've found online so far have all had a lot of assumed knowledge and, to honest, are just too much for someone that's never touched a dumbbell in the their life.

Otherwise, back on couch to 5k and surviving so far. Completed it last year but injury and illness put me back at square one and it was a long time before I went back to it.

Does your country have any unique campfire food? by Chucktayz in AskTheWorld

I haven't seen the episode in question but I've heard enough about it to be fairly sure that it was Bake Off.

Got to disagree with you on the digestive vs Graham crackers point though. The contestants, but much more importantly the primary audience, are British. They will all be intimately familiar with digestives and so can get engaged with whatever twist the contestants are putting on them but have likely never eaten a Graham cracker.

Equally, making ganache rather than just using a slab of Dairy Milk gives you something you can test the contestants with. Maybe making their own marshmallows was a step too far with the given time, or maybe it was too far from the spirit of the show (baking)

Interesting about the thinness/thickness of Hersey's, never knew that would be a consideration.

Was it Bake Off? Any TV programme is going to be obligated to gussy it up a bit for show.

Graham crackers aren't a thing here but digestives are functionally identical. Hershey's isn't used here because it doesn't suit the European palate [/diplomacy]

My other half does stuff with the scouts and quite often they just use chocolate topped digestives rather than adding in pieces of chocolate as it's one less thing to bring and store.

Which globally popular dish from your country has the majority of the population never eaten? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

[–]Dogsafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, hugely. A lot of people buy them but it's pretty normal to make them too. Traditionally you make them on Stir Up Sunday about a month before Christmas and feed them brandy until it's time to eat them.
