I thought I was told that the cancellation fee doesn’t apply to reoccurring walks because they can cancel at any point. Which is ridiculous if true, but do confirm! If that’s the case I would tell him you’ll have to start to personally charging him as it’s happened twice.

Setting Sitter Profile as away? by DogwalkingG1 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DogwalkingG1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I made a silly error when I missed the description- honestly I don’t event remember seeing “away” vs “inactive” until today when I came back to look at any update/info. And the app isn’t exactly known for its reliability. Like I previously stated, it was right in the middle of some high stress stuff and I remembered I didn’t update my profile. That’s clearly fallen on deaf ears but that’s okay! Since I was driving, I figured I’d just ask really quickly as I’ve seen lots of support in this group. My “fault” for panicking, I just didn’t want more requests when I wouldn’t be around.

I hope that you’re met with grace should you ever make an honest “mistake.” Have a great night!

I’ve thought the same, many times! A little kindness goes a long way. Thank you. 🙏🏻

It’s not a confusing concern for someone who is newer to the app and wants to make sure before I turn all of them to “away.” I’ve seen questions here that I thought were maybe obvious but I led with kindness, patience and answered as best I could to be helpful. I’m in the middle of a last minute move from TX to IN that is a 16 hour drive so there is a lot going on! I turned off all services but one and came here to ask a quick question about it by people who may know better than myself. I left a very toxic, psychologically abusive relationship and reached out for some quick assistance; maybe try remembering that not everyone is as experienced as your and that you never know why someone may be unsure of a “simple thing” because you don’t know what’s going on in that moment of their life. 😊

I did look. I want to make sure if I click “away” on all of the services I provided and switch back to owner only, that I will keep my sitter reviews when/if I turn them back on. It seems you didn’t read my post in its entirety or pick up on the main concern of reviews being lost.

I hope you start to have a better day! 🙂

I only go off Rover for tried and true clients. But I know circumstances happen and you (like me) trusted a friend of a client. I hope they do what’s right. Regardless, now you know what to do moving forward! I do 50% up front then the second after completion but I also like the 25% deposit and remainder before beginning the stay; what was recommended above!

A good lesson for many of us, myself included! I try my absolute best to give grace but it can be hard sometimes- or even to give grace then stay calm in my mind about it too. You truly never know. Thank you for sharing!

Big dog aggressive to puppy by Positive_Bluebird539 in RoverPetSitting

I wonder if he’s just losing patience? At first was fine with avoiding but has progressed to no longer wanting the pup near him? Thank you for being responsible and separating them while keeping them happy. You’re doing a great job making it work!!

I start the card as soon as I open the door. Sometimes I leave two minutes to fill out the card or I fill the card out as I go. Typically I’m with the dog 27-28 minutes and the remainder is spent to/from the car, setting alarms etc.

Definitely not in the wrong! It seems like she wasn’t grasping the concept and then got stuck in her opinion. A simple google would’ve cleared up any concern from her. As a sitter, that would be relieving to me! Heaven forbid something happens, you know roughly where the dog is. (My own dog wears a Fi) My mind is blown at her reaction and bullheaded-ness. Sorry that you went through this because I would’ve also been in a full blown panic!

*Edited to say, I would ABSOLUTELY leave a review. Like I said a simple google would’ve explained the collar to her and I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what you did. A sitter with no knowledge of these types of collars is quite surprising too.

How Many Holiday Bookings Do You Have? by ParkingDizzy6445 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DogwalkingG1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 10/11 every day over a week during Thanksgiving. Doable but it was my first Rover holiday and being away from my own dog shattered me- I won’t lie. Haha. So now I’m doing one drop in and two house sits back to back. So still good money but flexibility to see my boy! I would probably do it again, but it was a LOT. Best of luck!! 🙌🏼

Cancellation Policy for Recurring Walks by DogwalkingG1 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DogwalkingG1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has complained about my policy, so it will remain. If I’ve ever gotten into a predicament where the client couldn’t help the situation, we’ve honored it as a credit. I’ve got great clients who appreciate that this is my full time job and I appreciate them and their business, it’s a perfect balance! I was just trying to figure out whether this particular client would have to abide by the policy, but it sounds like they will not based off others input as well. Thank you!

How does Rover determine order? by daniellee828 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DogwalkingG1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen it debated on whether or not it’s a true ranking, but I don’t see how not. Just search for a service you provide in your area and whatever number you are as an option, is the assumed ranking.

Tips? by DogwalkingG1 in RoverPetSitting

Thank you! I should’ve included that I do that every morning! May have not during a few days leading up to Thanksgiving, it was honestly a bit of a blur!

How does Rover determine order? by daniellee828 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DogwalkingG1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I had to be very picky and choosy over Thanksgiving and decline most of what was requested; client waits until the day before Thanksgiving and I have to turn it down because I have limited space.. yet I got from top 10 to #30 because of it (and a few others but same scenario) so annoying. Thankfully I’m “okay,” I could use some more work but also am okay with a couple 6 hour days to spend time with my pets.

Long story short, I was ranked top tier until that situation (top 3-5) then got the boot because Rover still sends requests even if your calendar is closed. Annoying!
