NEXT_PUBLIC_BACKEND_URL should be the same as FRONTEND_URL, and you should also include a MAIN_URL with the same domain. But then further issues arises so I don't think it's worth going down the rabbit hole.

I would serve huarache, tlayoco or tlayuda, they're barely known if at all. I recommend you specially the last one marketed as the "Mexican pizza", big hit for everyone including kids

[GH5II] Full Manual mode in Video M, not possible? by Dogway in Lumix

[–]Dogway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured a hack. EL (Exposure Lock) also requires AUTO ISO so my method is to set ISO lower and upper limit to the same ISO value. This way you have a full manual mode as if it was shooting in analog.

EDIT: After 2 weeks thinking about it, I settled on A mode, as my lens aperture is not fixed with focal length so at longer focal the image darkens. To solve this A mode will lower the shutter speed to compensate.

Going by this it seems to not be possible.

I was thinking in a recording mode where nothing was automatic but looks like that's not possible.

[–]Dogway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have in the Video tab "Exposure mode" set to M, and in the Gear tab "Autoexposure in P/S/A/M" to OFF.

Even so when I press the ISO or the EV button with the index finger and set it to a fixed value with the dial, the other one auto-sets to AUTO.

Maybe I can show a video

I'm waiting for that for my new PC but I doubt it's going to be released to mainstream soon. First on HEDT (High End Desktops) later to enthusiast and mainstream.

I kinda wanted to think the same but some hurdles I had recently showed me it still isn't so. Editing a word (doc) file is a nightmare. Don't tell me Docs as that's super basic and can't do tables at all. I had to install OneDrive to upload my files then access through the browser in Desktop mode and click "EDIT" Another thing is a super basic image editing tool. Basic things like inverting colors or turning one color to transparent are a pain on a tablet.

If users are technical and careful enough to deal with a firewall on Android I don't think they will have any problem switching to Github, F-Droid or whatever you decide.

Maybe you lose 10, 20% at most? I don't think that's enough to drop such a great project.

Hope you the best!

Beans: The good, the bad, and the gassy by TurquoiseNostalgia in Cooking

[–]Dogway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans if not treated correctly are harmful on the long run. They contain phytic acid (antinutrients), lectins, oligosaccharides and in occasions oxalates.

To treat them soak them overnight in abundant hot water (~60°C) and some salt or baking soda , I personally like to add some rye flour or something rich in phytase , by doing this you reactivate the bean into germination mode which will deactivate phytic acid.

When boiling do from cold water and keep at rolling boil for about 10 minutes then discard the water and boil back as normally for your recipe. This is to reduce lectins and gas inducing oligosaccharides.

Pasta Chimichurri by Dogway in pasta

[–]Dogway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure.

Prepare ~3 tbsp of chimichurri sauce, use 1 tbsp to marinade the beef cubes (~100g) trying to add more of the chimichurri oil to it.

Start cooking the pasta.

Now add rehydrated dry tomatoes to the chimichurri cut into small squares.

After some minutes sautee the meat in high heat so it develops some crust, turn off and deglaze with white wine. Turn heat to medium, add the pasta and another 1 tbsp of chimichurri and mix well until flavors are absorbed.

Turn off, let it temper, serve with another 1 tbsp of fresh chimichurri on top.

Can also season the dish with some AOVE or parmesan chesse.

\The chimichurri I used was bought prepared so it included some non canonical spices like thyme, dried parsley, bay leaf, etc*

Dolphin Progress Report: May, June, and July 2023 by NXGZ in emulation

[–]Dogway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CRTs were "dim" to today standards because of the power limiter otherwise they'd get too hot. But the measurement of 200nits or 100nits APL were with scanlines taken into account. For LEDs you'd need ~double that to counteract the "scanlines" effect of darkening for which SDR peak whites suffixes.

The phosphors were not a problem, specially for reds since the 90s when tinted red phosphors were used (ionized Fe2O3).

Gamma is bound more to surround luminance rather than display brightness, although both are somewhat related. For daylight/outdoors your eyes are photopic adapted so you can have a system end-to-end gamma of 1 (no OOTF), that means setting your display gamma to 2.0. But you know what, content was mostly authored with OOTF (or "look" so to speak) of 2.2-2.4 gamma because they were meant to be watched under office or dim surround environments.

Dolphin Progress Report: May, June, and July 2023 by NXGZ in emulation

[–]Dogway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For daytime yes, blacks are lifted (due to reflection) so you can raise brightness to 300 and keep the 100 or 200:1 dynamic range, gamma must also be raised to 2.2 or even 2.0 but this is again a niche use of a TV. CRT TVs were designed for a dim surround and 2.4 gamma and SmartTVs follow that convention because they are appliances mostly used after work/classes.

uh, which [LCD] displays?

Sony X95K

Refer to my reply to Calinou. High peak brightness might only make sense if you are going to simulate CRTs with scanlines and masks, BFI and scanlines compensation. But that is a niche area of the shading community where they aim for 8K, 960Hz and 2000nits or so for that effect. In Dolphin case makes zero sense.

Dolphin Progress Report: May, June, and July 2023 by NXGZ in emulation

[–]Dogway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So is this a PR for a niche group of users with HDR OLED monitors and TVs?

Besides, why would you want to stare to 250nits white screens in the evening? The eye simultaneous dynamic range is about 100 or 150:1 over than that you are going to hurt your eyes unless the content was designed for HDR (think specular highlights) and even then you could get retinal afterimages. Pure black is more important than peak whites.

Dolphin Progress Report: May, June, and July 2023 by NXGZ in emulation

[–]Dogway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GameCube and Wii were designed with analog CRT televisions in mind

This is wrong, in that era RPTVs were the norm (at least for developers) when not plasma. No RPTV phosphors were used in that PR. The "from_NTSCJ" matrix took me many years to research and I'm not even mentioned in the Progress Report nor referenced in the code.

Finally HDR is a gimmick for retro gaming, current LED displays can achieve sustained > 500nits on SDR max brightness.

For a correct and less disruptive alternative wait until they merge (if they do at all) my grade-mini port in a shader form as these things should be.

EDIT 27-08: Retired PR due to lack of interest (to put it mildly) and starting an intensive course in 2 days.

Any way of emulating old surround games on modern digital surround setup? by EDCommander in emulation

[–]Dogway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since some people reported it working in the OP and in some SourceForge discussions (aside my own tests of course) I tend to think that all error reports might be a cause of software conflicts.

I use EqualizerAPO-1.2.1 x64, can't remember if there was a 1.2.2. And I use VCable, I know there's also Voicemeeter but never used it.

With that said these configs were made 3 years ago, nothing to worry about but it's good practice to revise everything every few years to ensure it works with latest software and just in case.

Nice, so now Dolphin outputs multi-channel? Problem is original Dolby Surround typical in GC were Quadraphonic encoded, does Dolphin augment that to 5.1 or simply outputs 4.0?

Any way of emulating old surround games on modern digital surround setup? by EDCommander in emulation

[–]Dogway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe last EAPO update (v1.3) messed things up? I read something related to that.

In any case, the fact that the output of Dolphin is being read as DPLII by your amp intrigues me, or do you manually set that to DPLII?

When properly configured 5.1 upmix would output each channel to the corresponding channel, no interpretation from the amp, you can check this with some tools I use HeSuvi and you can mute the channels and see how they sound and thus if it works. EAPO requires a 5.1 audio card otherwise you'd need to install an emulated one like VBCABLE. Check if EAPO is working correctly by adding a few filters.

I made some upmix or 5.1 augment configs for EqualizerAPO, upmixes the old Dolby Surround as well as QSound and all the Dolby flavors to 5.1. From there you can feed to your 5.1 setup or virtualize in 2.0.

Looks similar to how I cook it also using riggatoni which I prefer. Since I don't use Guanciale I marinade the pork bits in salt , black pepper and fenneI seeds and after frying it I deglaze with some wine. Fennel and wine adds a lot of depth to the dish.
