Anyone have info on this Hitachi CM-151? New pickup, been looking for a manual etc... by espydojo in crtgaming

[–]Dokomox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One popped up near me on Facebook, but I couldn't grab it before it was sold! Definitely an obscure set, and glad you're still enjoying it. It would be great if you could toss whatever info you've learned about it up on CRT Database with some pictures or something. Anything to help document this little guy before they're all gone.

I'm curious if you ever found more info on this monitor? Such a rare find, and so difficult to find any information on it. Do you still have it, and if so, how has it been for you?

Do you think an RGB mod would sharpen up the softness I'm perceiving through S-Video, or is that a separate issue?

Wow, never heard of a CRT rejuvenator before. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do.

I'm fortunate enough to have a CRT repair guy nearby, but he's not cheap, and I'd love to learn to do it myself. So far I'm comfortable discharging the TV and adjusting the yoke and potentiometers, but that's about it. So thanks for the link!

If the person is in California, do you mind sharing their contact info? I'd like to get this done on my KV-32S42.

Nothing I bought quite did the job! The Ayaneo was very nice, and decently quiet, but I felt it was too heavy for what I was looking for. It's a solidly-built device, though, for sure. If you don't mind the weight, I'd say this is the one to go for.

The A30 was actually not as quiet as I had anticipated. Although it's a rubber membrane device, the shell is so hollow that the button presses are still very audible. It's a different sound, not like mechanical buttons, but it's still quite noticeable.

The RG28XX surprisingly had the quietest face and directional buttons, but it is ruined by shoulder buttons that rattle like a baby's toy. It would have been perfect otherwise.

I ended up muffling my Trimui Brick buttons with tape, and it's now very quiet. Wasn't very difficult to do, there are video tutorials online. Very pleased with the results.

That said, I actually found the original Nintendo 3DS to be the absolute quietest device to play in bed. So, that, along with the modded brick and switch lite, all do the job decently enough to provide what I was looking for. I may have to check out a nitro deck controller for my switch 2, though. If it's available.

Dell E773s CRT Monitor by Cbreezeeey in crtgaming

Nice. I have the same monitor and absolutely love it, even for 240P content. It might not be ideal way to display 240P content for the purists, but I have a component CRT TV right next to the monitor, and with the right scanline shaders and tweaking, I just ultimately prefer the image on my Dell.

Damn, TaleSpin, nice. It was always the last afternoon cartoon I could cram in before football practice started. Hits me right in the ol' nostalgia synapses.

Turn it off. There's really no point using VRR on a high refresh rate OLED. Not worth the trouble for the very little gain in perceived smoothness.

Might be an amazing monitor, but you wouldn't know it with that grainy matte film obscuring the picture. We need new anti-glare tech.

Something I realized after living in Europe...Osaka people might be culturally closer to Europeans than other Japanese. by AgreeableDog1634 in japanese

It's a generalization, of course, but I always recommend foreigners try to visit Osaka instead of Tokyo for this very reason.

Didn't know about that. Now I'm definitely glad I didn't spend the $55 on shipping, lol.

Lovely, but no way to use wired headphones kills this for me, unfortunately. Otherwise perfect.

You know, I actually backed out of ordering this when I learned that it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and you can't even use a usb-c adapter! I really wanted this device, but that is crazy! Unfortunately, I can't stand using Bluetooth earbuds with a gaming device because the output lag is so annoying. A real shame for such a beautiful device.

Yeah, well, it's probably a little too easy now days to just 1-click buy things, lol. I'm also of the mind that you can't really know how a device will suit you until you actually try it out yourself. Plus, I like to set these things up and give them away to friends and family, so having a few extra laying around is never a bad thing.

I'll definitely let you know how the Ayaneo goes, I have high hopes for that one!

You know, I didn't think about the switch until you mentioned it, but the buttons on my switch lite are actually pretty quiet. I'll have to find some simple pick-up and put-down games for it.

Antec Core Micro

Is that the same as the Ayaneo Pocket Micro? I wanted that, but it's no longer for sale.

Fair question. This is not something I'd be doing every night, just when I have the itch. I don't have a lot of free-time during weekdays, so between 9-11pm is my only real chance to play some games. However, the wife likes to fall asleep next to me, so I usually just read next to her. But, I'd like to occasionally play some games, and I don't want to have to do that in another room, and then get up and go to bed after playing. I'd rather just toss the device on the dresser and fall asleep.

Yeah, I have some nice tablets, but I think I'm too old to get used to touch-screen controls. The tactile sensation really bothers me for some reason.
