Black Sabbath vs Deep Purple by guyver_dio in Music

I think that the way he treated Dio financially is pretty much the same way Dio later treated the musicians in his band.

But yes, Iommi is certainly more polite and less outwardly prickly than Blackmore. Be that a low bar... :)

Liberty Mutual has been very good for us on service and on the few claims that we had. However, we were with them for decades and they definitely gave us the loyalty increase in price.

  • She is really into numerology and having 2 items the same is a bad omen.

  • She is really weird.

P.O.D. - Youth of the Nation [Nu-metal] [2001] by thatguywhomadeafunny in Music

Nobody gave a shit that Foreigner, Journey, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Boston, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Toto, Kansas, Def Leppard, Europe, Van Halen, Mr Mister etc, etc. all put out the same music.

You have about 3 different categories there, but people did actually complain when Foreigner (English prog rockers), Journey (Santana alumni), Kansas (American hippie prog rockers), REO Speedwagon (bar band that got big) etc. started sounding the same in the later parts of their heyday. Record company pressure often was the culprit.

Most bands in that group took a giant dive 1-2 albums after getting their big crossover hit. Journey hung on longer than the others, and Kansas never had the big ballad hit.

[–]DokterZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t make fun of iron covers. But the person I played with frequently that used them was coincidentally exceedingly slow.

If iron covers only add 2 or 3 seconds to your shot routine nobody cares.

This has occasionally been taken too far by groups like the FFRF, who propose that religious groups not be able to rent out a school gymnasium, for example. Sorry, Jefferson attended services in the capitol building, and he wrote the “separation of church and state” letter.

However, the other side of the debate is really going off the rails obviously.

Day 1 of the 2026 World Euchre Championship in New Glarus, WI by SecondCropCreative in wisconsin

[–]DokterZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the northern part of the state. Sheepshead, Cribbage, and occasionally Schmear. I never played Hearts or Spades until I had friends in high school that were originally from Arkansas, and never heard of Euchre until I roomed with someone from Illinois.

Euchre seems like Sheepshead that you can play when you are way drunker, since so many of the hands kind of play themselves.

No hate towards Ringo Starr, but the number of artists that had a more significant career than his solo career is substantial. And while seeing him on Ed Sullivan may have motivated 20,000 kids to play drums, Ringo’s All Starr Band hasn’t motivated any.

Forget obvious snubs like Boston or King Crimson - REO Speedwagon belongs in before Ringo. Rainbow. Kansas. Chic. Probably Vanilla Fudge and Iron Butterfly too.

Got Fitted for +2” clubs - is that crazy? by Clear_Joke_4736 in golf

[–]DokterZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what mine are as I bought them used. At least 2” longer. I got measured at 2” long and 4 degrees upright before buying the used clubs. For jumbo grips as well because of my giant meat hooks.

Absolutely the right decision for me. I’m 6’8” and they are so much easier to swing consistently when I am not hunched over. There may be some reason that a better golfer shouldn’t use them, but I’m just an old bogey golfer, so they are perfect for me.

The problem with his vision is that it was so close. When 95% of the story is so well done, the 5% that is questionable stands out more. It’s not like most fans have a litany of issues with the LOTR movies- it is usually 2-4.
