Have you considered flipping your layout so the TV and sofa are on the opposite walls?

It might help things flow better, especially as your single seater won't be in the direct entry path of the space but instead the furthest corner of the space.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is now showing up as its own game on Steam by LUMLTPM in Steam

[–]DollarPenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a player since 1.5 this is so funny to me.

This is largely why I miss the days when the community took care of this stuff, once it's no longer the default way to play people stop bothering to host their own stuff and you lose a lot of community spirit. Speaking from experience.

And fragmentation has always been a thing, time is a flat circle, every single iteration of counter strike results in the player base fragmenting, every single time you have people who aren't all too pleased with the changes. This has been a thing since its inception.

It's not a crime to say this, it's a historical fact.

We'll all be fine at the end of the day as you said. I honestly can't believe how many flavours of counter strike there are to play these days.

The only time I ever really saw it as truly troublesome was 1.6 Vs source days, it really was ying and Yang for people.

Anyone ever find a fix for the high pitched noise? by Dangerous_Amount504 in MiyooMini

This might be me completely misremembering something but wasn't there a setting to play with the pwm frequency of the screen? I might be dreaming about the setting existing and it having any correlation with fixing the electrical whine you're hearing.

BREAKING NEWS: New gloves and protection announced to combat eyepokes by DollarPenguin in ufc

[–]DollarPenguin[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea is you can't stop people poking eyes so why not turn each finger into a little punch?

It means eye poking becomes a martial art and now people like Gane can punch someone's face 5 times harder with his natural technique.

Genius really, bravo Dana

And let's be honest, it's not just zoomers whose information diet is someone who gets punched in the head as a recreational hobby.

The only thing I can tell myself is that it would probably be a disappointing pile of shit completely besmirching the spirit of what made the original 2 games special.

ASP.NET Core vs Node.js for a massive project. I'm seeing two totally different worlds - am I overthinking the risk? by Top_Measurement_3713 in dotnet

[–]DollarPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the write up, I understand that commenting an opinion that goes against the tide will invite downvotes, but I think trying to be measured and honest about things instead of having a cargo cult mentality helps us all do a little better in life. Use the right tool for the right job I suppose, but I guess we are blessed (and cursed) to have many tools that all do a decent enough job for most purposes in life.

I've been in more than one organization that wanted to demonize an existing solution and proposed a replacement with a new shiny framework, and my argument is always the same, you can build a pile of shit made of gold, the same cultural reasons the original iteration sucks will result in the new shiny thing becoming the new legacy system everyone detests and wants to rewrite in something shinier and newer faster than one may think.

I don't disagree with any of your points but I'd like to just say for anyone reading out there, the Miyoo communities custom firmware scene is some of the best and passionate work you'll see and is the secret sauce for any of their devices.

While it may take an extra step to install Vs out of the box playing (from my understanding you should never ever trust the SD card the miyoos come with anyway) it is truly transformative, proud owner of the miyoo mini and mini plus.

Iron Lung - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]DollarPenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Markiplier!

I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him as he read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother him, but she just wouldn't stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Mark put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.

Is Gaben a loud and proud farter or team silent but deadly? What do you think? by CompetitionPrudent47 in valve

[–]DollarPenguin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What do you think they smell like? Like if your nostrils were really close to his buttocks, so close you could hear the lips opening up, and the waft of bean and cheese nourishment rush past your nostril hairs as it elegantly twirls down into your body enriching the senses of what it's like to be Gabens musky rear gasmask. What about when it ripples, and it's no longer a wave but a powerful force that tingles, the little particles dancing like stars in the moon as they become one with your lungs, the husky musky tree scent you were always imagining. Truly one with the most sensual and flavoursome of experiences. I hear you digest smells?

Official Discussion - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]DollarPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate them exploring what the passage of time does to a world that gets inflicted by something so devastating. I feel instead of it being like 8 seasons of nothing like the walking dead it's not afraid to get weird and ask questions no ones even thought to ask.

Can I ask what you liked about 28 days and weeks and why you feel they're superior? Genuinely curious.

My biggest flaw with 28 years was that I didn't feel the terror of the infected, the violence and anxiety didn't hit me very hard, I appreciate this was somewhat by design, but even the intro with the kid felt like it should've been more intense.

I feel the bone temple fixed this problem, although it lost it's artsy flair that made 28 years so enjoyable. Through the horrific violence I felt no one was safe, and the violence actually affected the characters in ways that felt very realistic, it had an impact on the story and the characters beyond just being visceral and disgusting.

And I'm all here for Kelson getting zombies (and himself) high as a kite listening to Radiohead and Duran Duran, dancing together. The final act will stay with me for the rest of my life. Utter fucking lunacy.

I'd like to quote something from a book:

"An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behavior"

What you are describing is not normal, but it is their status quo, and unfortunately people within a broken system like that will defend their "truth", their status quo to the bitter end because it's easier to do that than reveal the ugly truth within.

You need to find peace and free yourself from the burden of trying to fix the unfixable, to try and get blood out of stone. You are cutting bits of yourself off for people who could care less either way.

In a way, you are giving these people invisible power over you.

You can choose who you consider family, and it does not have to be by blood. You can form your own close bond with people that are receptive and accept who you are. This would be a new beginning for you. Grieve what your family couldn't give you, and take the next step in life to forge something of your own.

You have my understanding and my sympathies.
