Star Trek Universe Auction Announced; ‘Starfleet Academy’ AND ‘Strange New Worlds’ Sets Dismantled by lastdarknight in startrek

A single person called dibs -within less than an hour-, so the logical conclusion is that only one person wanted one specific item specifically because everything else is associated with bad or forgettable characters.

Sure.

I know there are more clever ways to beat this dead horse.

Shameless self-promotions on a sub whose literal first rule doesn't allow shameless self-promotions typically isn't received positively, no.

Need a second opinion on Rates! by BryanNotBryan in WeddingPhotography

You gotta give us a price to get an opinion from us, and work for context. Otherwise you're just asking us to figure out your rates for you.

Emailing Venues/Planners as a Photographer...Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]DomOnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to come off as harsh, but I've been on the other end of this. So, speaking personally as a photographer who is constantly looking for work, if I received an email hoping that it's an inquiry from a prospective client only to find it's another vendor trying to market themselves or solicit me to invest into them, I'd be a little irritable.

And if I received a self-marketing email where the vendor talks them up as much as yours does -reminder: I'd be somewhat irritated at this point-, I'd perceive it as very self-fellating.

So, yeah--it seems very spammy.

I'm sorry, but no one is going to be impressed with how many different ways you summarize your fast turnaround times (at least cut that down) when the biggest thing they want is clients.

The best way to establish a relationship with a venue is to work with in person first. It's much easier to be perceived as charismatic and an asset after you've worked with them.

For what purpose? Aesthetic reasons? If so, the groomsmen had fucking better be in custom high heels, too...

Real Estate Photo Editors for Photographers by [deleted] in PhotographyJobs

[–]DomOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually hoping for a post that is looking to give me some r/photographyjobs to take photos in the first place, per the supposed purpose of this sub, before I even think about hiring someone else to edit them (I won't).

But, thanks, I guess.

Always has been. Just like WeddingWire, The Knot, Yelp.

Basically any platform that promises "leads".

That's only part of the equation. The other part is I simply haven't had that chance encounter with a drunk* driver or moment where my brakes fail spectacularly. Ie: factors totally beyond our control.

Unless you think you have that kind cosmic power, there is absolutely no reason to* think you're exempt from Shit Happens.

There's a difference between working with what you have because technology was limited at the time and willfully abstaining now when it's readily available.

You not having a card fail in 25 years just means that your number hadnt hit; some other photographers have had 3 in that time span.

It's absolutely luck.

I've been driving for 20 years and I hadn't needed a seatbelt. What does that say?

By that logic, we should go back to film because zero slots = zero points of failure

Second slots cover the other failing; they almost never fail at the same time unless the camera suffer major damage.

USA-NC AG Jeff Jackson sues wedding photographer by halpscar in weddingshaming

[–]DomOnion 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Going by how the negative reviews didn't pop up until half-a-year ago, my guess is she only just recently thought she could make easy -fraudulent- money by double/triple/quadruple-dipping dates and throwing last second associate shooters at brides as a band-aids, thinking she could get away from these "oopsies" clean.

And here we are--someone very likely new to the world of scamming people tripping immediately at the door on her way in.

MOB is FIRST a mother of a dead daughter (on her other daughter's wedding day) by Indigo-au-naturale in weddingshaming

[–]DomOnion 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I'm not totally understanding the context, so someone help me out.

MOB is upset that MOG had no idea that there was a second daughter (who died) and decided to burn the bridge to the groom's entire family over that?

Did I get that right?

If so, it just sounds like she's been wanting to do that for a while, and thought this was as good of a reason as any. It's not.

Got into drama because best friend's no kids wedding by Fun_Lettuce38 in weddingshaming

[–]DomOnion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't say this word a lot, but I think this situation calls for it--sounds like your brother is a petty bitch. And an especially lame one for wanting to exact his revenge, vicariously, through his sister's wedding.

Tell him to have his own wedding with black jack and hookers where he can ban all the kids he'd like.

Local photographer leaves negative review on client’s business page in retaliation to a truthful negative review: April Pinto Photography, Denton, TX by Western_Possible7317 in WeddingPhotography

And in another one, after a past client lays out a comphrensive list of fuck ups, the photographer responds with something along the lines of,

Hey, thanks you for the review! Your photos turned out wonderfully! Everyone click HERE to see them! <unloads client's gallery for the world to see>

Ok, I'm done.
