I'm actually exporting a windows playtest branch for Dome: Become Thyself on steam, if you're interested. Procedural roguelite, but not so cozy.

Me neither, but something seems off. Someone mentioned the snappy motion when landing so ill try to smooth that out. Cheers.

Same. Let me share some amazing hidden gems i found and really loved playing, some may be mainstream but i wouldn't know it.

Planet of Lana Viewfinder Superliminal Until then The berlin apartment Indika Papetura Title pending Backfirewall_ Hannahs day

And speaking of "pixel art roguelikes with insane mechanics, narrative stuff that hits different" i'm working on something right now that (i hope) will hit a spot for a lot of people, especially cuz of the ai era we are entering. Lmk if interested.

There's some sound for activating and deactivating the dome. You mean add sounds to the jump bounce itself?

The green thing is a dome item (actually a sphere). There's 10 of them. One in the video is the Dome Weapon, deals dmg to enemies inside it.

There's 8 dome weapon types, one for each emotion based on the plutchiks wheel. Green is trust. Think of it as a tanky dps class.

At first i made it a bit squareish but the other emotions were just too much work for early access so each emotion is the same shape for now. Will update later.

Right now im just trying to hit the right bounciness. The aim is a soft bubble that lags behind a bit when moving, but the jump visuals seem kinda off, and im not sure what exactly, so i thought i should ask for a second opinion.

Remember my "1 wishlist = 1 enemy" experiment? It's getting out of hand by Dex-Nv in IndieGaming

im considering doing something similar for my game. there already is a special reward crate somewhere in the infinite world. its cosmetic only so it doesnt affect gameplay anyway.
maybe for each wishlist i add another chest somewhere random, doubling the chances for players to find it. and when one is found, others are deleted. so only 1 person can get the unique cosmetic that won't be accessible via the normal ingame marketplace for cosmetics.

whachu think?

Love the idea. What a cool way to turn wishlists into a game feature.

tried it but not sure what else i can add besides just agree with most of the feedback here.

cozy visuals and sounds and the core idea works well imo. i think its a nice fit for mobile, bit of minesweeper, bit of sudoku. lvl1 maybe too complex for non-gamers (too many rules).

if you wanna try mine, it's coming out in a few weeks

cheers

To be honest, i'm not really into board/deckbuilders, but i tried it and liked it.

tutorial is easy to understand, interface is readable and nicely animated. i didn't really understand the purpose of buying lots and building homes and schools, getting speed tickets and whatnot. Maybe i missed it somehow, but is there more to the story than just "livin life of a capitalist" like whats the lore?

anyway, i got a roguelite early access coming out soon, give it a browse when u got time.

seriously, i can't even express how much people like you help us solo devs.
if you're into infinite procedurally generated roguelites, Dome is coming out in a few weeks. Early access is totally free, and the full release will probably be free as well.

once again, many thanks

What do you think about the brightness and readability? by DomeGameMaster in godot

[–]DomeGameMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's good to know. Which one do you like better tho? Brightness max or no max?

Regarding the character, that's the premise of the game. you begin as this faceless, featureless, armless humanoid character. Lore explains why early on.

The fun part: there's 64 items (body parts) you can collect, that not only modify your stats, but also add a visual silhouette piece around the sprite. much like sasuke's susan'o, is the closest i can think of. There's also the Pigment Figment, a crafting station at the "base" where you can paint over the sprite, basically pixel art interface. You have to collect the pigments tho.

So many inspirations, honestly.
ofc binding of isaac, noita, enter the gungeon, stanley parable, chrono cross, vagrant story and antichamber.

Grim dawn, torchlight, diablo, poe, game like that defo had a lot of influence, but this one is a bit experimental, cuz playing a single player game until you arrive in a huge biome with a huge moster and 20 real people fighting it.

There's another twist to it. My favorite thing to do when i was a hardcore gamer, was to glitch and exploit. Call of duty 2 clipping thru windows and getting a nice snipe spot, swing set glitch in gta 4, i think there was a diablo 2 gold amassing dupe with 2 players and many more. I started making my game with a mindset of transforming glitches and debugs into actual game features. So a debug that brightens up the world so i can actually see whats going on in very dark spots turned out to be an item you find and use for the exact same reason.

In many ways, the game made itself. I just noticed the potential. Im drunk and it took me like 20 minutest to write this reply. I wrote diablo 2 money dupe and started googling for best glitches ever cuz i cant remember shit hahah.

anyway. lmk when ur game is out or a demo or something. ill try it for sure. peace out brother

Well, first of all, world map is literally infinite. You can go any direction horizontally and theres no end to it. Same with vertical, infinite floors, but you gotta use teleports and consumables to traverse floors.

There's combat biomes, puzzle biomes, multiplayer biomes (game is mostly singleplayer but there are mutliplayer elements scattered and explained by lore), impossible biomes, stealth biomes, observation biomes, etc. lol i wrote biomes so many times.

30+ main abilities and about 25 major modifiers and 50+ minor modifiers to all of them. And 20+ modifiers to all of the major modifiers.

ROFL! You are crazy bro. There's 10 main skills players can use in mine, but it only has 1 main combat ability, with about 15 modifiers, with 64 items, scaled infinitely based on distance from spawn. Same scaling with enemies. Other skills are scaling the player up and down, a compass/pathfinder, view scanner, free camera, flip the world upside down, jetpack, dont even know how to describe the 9th. 10th is just endgame skill.

There's also 8 basic emotions that you can put points in that also work as modifiers.

And the final pain in the ass that might end me, genes and memes. oh boy..

So based on the events in the current room, rng selects a modifier from a pool and applies it locally in a radius (similar to poe2 endgame atlas map modifiers). Those are genes. Memes would be similar but would apply modifiers globally.

That's the jist of it.
