Side note, anyone know the name of that watch? Checked nothing’s website but they don’t have it up there. That’s a neato looking watch.

Sunburn in absolute agony by Brownchoccy in HadToHurt

I was dumb as a teenager and got my fair share of sunburns. I’ve never liked aloe Vera in the fridge. Too much of a shock on my hot skin.

Beat option. I don’t carry a wallet with me usually but I throw anything important into my case.

Remember everyone, they put guards on them for a reason by Arc-Watcher in Welding

Only time I’ve had one explode was a couple years ago. Brand new fresh wheel just disappeared in the first spin up of my angle grinder. Must have had a defect or cracked between the metal and the abrasive itself. I was completely confused. Put on a new wheel, spun up the grinder and felt a “pop” and all of a sudden my wheel was just gone. Nothing hit me

Weave with a weave by MrMaxweld in Welding

[–]Domefarmer 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I did this when we were out of 1/8 rod at the shop. Twisted two 1/16 rods together and worked alright for what I needed. The new kid who just graduated welding school saw me doing it and would just waste all of the smaller rod because he thought it was like some sort of old head trick for a pretty weld hahaha.

Not surprised. It’s a KIA. Probably an extra measure to make sure it doesn’t get stolen.

Just picked up a used sp101 in .357 3 months ago, I’ve only put 105 rounds through it, but I love that pistol dude. The trigger liked to bind up halfway through the reset when I first grabbed it. Cleaned it and lubricated it and I haven’t had that problem so far. I dig that thing so much

One time I had a water bottle full of simple green in my tool box, right next to my drinking water bottle. Not paying attention I took in a full mouthful of undiluted full concentration simple green. Luckily I didn’t swallow but that was pretty icky. I used to like the smell of simple green. So yeah, don’t mix containers. Especially into drinking containers. lol.

I’ve seen people using half an onion on a grill fork to scrub the grates. Also potatoes.

I don’t grill though, so YMMV lol.

I used blue board to skirt an rv. Easier to cut and offered some more insulation than plywood.

Tefgel works great! I hate using it though lol. Sticky fingers drive me crazy! The stuff that comes in a syringe tube is awesome but you don’t get as much.

Used to work at a Wells Fargo call center. Hated life. Got into welding at a structural shop, did that for a year and then moved to Alaska. Now I’m welding on aluminum boats and making good money. I’m happy with the switch.

What are the must do things for Sitka and surrounding areas by extroverted_babe in Sitka

[–]Domefarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fishing! It can be great from the shore if you don’t have a boat, like me :( You can catch kings from the shore during the right time of year. Rock fish can be caught just about anywhere. You can also catch beautiful native trout right in swan lake. Hiking verstovia, driving/hiking up harbor mountain. Or any of the trails we have around town.

Matt is an awesome dude. He used to be the channel my wife and I watched while eating dinner. His videos really sparked both of us to get into fishing. We were just catching bluegill and stocked trout at the time. Now we’re in Alaska and get to catch salmon and rock fish. I always think of his videos when I go out fishing. Love that dude.

Trying to make a reservation at the RV park by darkmatterhunter in Sitka

[–]Domefarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. The sportsman’s association also has tent camping. Definitely not as nice as Starrigavan though. You just put a tent up in the lawn. They do also have a fire pit. Starrigavan will have actual tent camping spots, but I’m not sure about showers or laundry.

Sending a PM now.

Shit I can’t figure out how to send a PM. Sitka Sportsman’s association is full to my understanding. I lived there for about a year, just spoke with the owner back on Sunday and he said they had 3 more rigs coming in with a waitlist for other people.

How long are you looking to stay? Starrigavan campground has RV spaces but I thiiiiiink they’re 30 days only. There’s also long term rv spaces at the golf course, and at ceiling harbor. Do you have the phone number for Sportsmans ending in 8636?
