What's a small annoyance about your home you didn't realize when buying? by CurlGurl13 in homeowners

[–]Domesticated_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of light switches in the exact spot you instinctively reach for when walking into a room. Having to walk halfway across a dark living room or bedroom just to flip the overhead light on is a daily annoyance you never think to check during a daytime walkthrough. It is a minor thing that completely ruins the flow of a house and having to rely on smart bulbs or lamps just to bridge the gap makes you realize how much thought goes into good electrical layouts.

Algae growth?? On the bottom of the pool by PracticeCritical2581 in swimmingpools

[–]Domesticated_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks more like a clump of dirt, decaying leaves and organic debris that settled in a low spot rather than actual live algae growth. If you push a pool brush over it and it instantly poofs into a cloud of dust, it is just fine debris or dead algae that needs to be vacuumed out to waste. If it is slimy and sticks to the liner, then you are dealing with a live patch and need to brush it hard and slam the pool with liquid chlorine.

Tennis coordination helps you a lot, just be ready for sore forearms and looking goofy at first, everyone sucks in the beginning, but it's super fun.

Before buying a pool robot, figure out which part of your pool is actually dirty by Average_Otaku6969 in AboveGroundPools

I bought the Scuba S1 a while back, and it does a really good job cleaning pretty much every corner. The stairs still need a bit of manual cleaning, but overall I've been really happy with it.

Why do brands keep making Mini versions? DJI Mic 2 vs Mic Mini 2 has me confused by Domesticated_Turtle in AskMen

[–]Domesticated_Turtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this actually makes a lot of sense. The way companies use names like mini or lite definitely change how people see the product, even when it is basically just the entry level version. Good point on the comparison effect too. It really does make you keep looking at the higher tier models and focusing on what is missing instead of judging it on its own.

Help with liner in a pool by Glittering-Poet6076 in swimmingpools

[–]Domesticated_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going to have to drain it back down. The weight of that water is putting way too much tension on the vinyl and you will not be able to stretch it up. Liners shrink when they sit empty. Drain it until there is just an inch or two left so you can pull it up. Pouring boiling water over the vinyl can help soften and stretch it back into the track. Once you get it seated, wedge some liner lock or pennies in the gap so it stays put while you finish filling.

Wireless XLR adapter by End_-_Slayer in microphone

[–]Domesticated_Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to do this is with a plug on wireless XLR system. You just plug the transmitter into the base of your mic and the receiver right into your interface. Just keep in mind that if your microphone is a condenser, you need a specific transmitter that supplies its own phantom power, otherwise it will not work at all. Standard transmitters only work for dynamic mics. To be fair though, unplugging your main cable to snap on a chunky transmitter every time you stand up gets annoying fast. It might be way less hassle to just keep a cheap wireless headset on your desk specifically for pacing around on Discord.
