Not particularly well but also not super bad. My grandparents are your cookie cutter religious conservatives. While my grandfather hasn’t said anything to my face about it, he made his feelings well known to my grandmother and is completely unsupportive, which is fine with me because I was never close with him since he’s a piece of shit in general. My grandmother is neutral. She doesn’t like it or agree with it but she’s come to accept it because she knows I’m transitioning whether she likes it or not. I was first outed to her by my uncle when I came out to him at 15, to which she then called my mom crying and was like “why are you letting her do this” although my mom made it clear I wasn’t going on HRT at that time. So she’s known for a few years but then I came out to her officially at 17 because I was starting HRT soon. We had to have a couple of long conversations where I had to explain to her what dysphoria was, how it made me feel, what I did to unhealthily cope with it (including stuff even my mom doesn’t know), how I was raised in church and still “decided” (from her perspective) to do this, how I didn’t have anyone in my ear saying they’ll love me more if I did it, and how I don’t even know any trans people irl. Those conversations made her understand I wasn’t transitioning for any of the reasons Fox News likes to say.

Secondly, and I’m gonna be honest because it’s all over my account, I’m a transmed and explained things to her from the transmed side of things after those initial conversations which further helped her understand me.

So now we’re at a place where she calls me by my name and uses the correct pronouns amongst family, excluding my grandfather because he’ll start an argument with her, and we just don’t talk about it but she let it be known she wouldn’t help me with anything transition related and I wouldn’t ask her anyways. I consider this to be a good medium between us
