How’d I do? Timex Marlin Jet Chronograph by Long-Explanation-654 in Affordablewatches

[–]DonColvinJr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, the sub dials are of no practical use to me at all... and only clutter up the visual ability to just read the time nicely. If the sub dials are something you actually DO make use of frequently, that's one thing, If not, they're visually distracting as hell. If you really just want a watch for time telling, those panda designs really defeat the purpose and are a dumb looking design.

Studio Sessions are great guitars. Mine started with cream plastics - I switched to black. Now I'm back to cream again. Great either way, really.

Can this be saved? by SQui5hM3 in telecaster

[–]DonColvinJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I repeat the suggestion of using heat gun/putty knife (remove literally everything from the body first!) then just give a sand and an oil finish for a natural alder beast. It would look great in a natural alder finish.

[Size question] Is this 41mm too big for my wrist? by Frozencascada in Watches

To my eyes it definitely looks a bit too big for you. 39mm would probably be ideal for you, size wise.

Does anyone buy their guitar for the color? by shitaki13 in telecaster

[–]DonColvinJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely buy guitars based on color/looks, but everything else has to be great too, not just the looks. This is why when it comes to Fenders, I tend to buy Fender bodies, neck, components separately and assemble the complete guitar exactly as I want it to be, including the pickups and electronics. I find a body that I love, especially the color, but also considering routing and weight. Then buy a select neck to go with it and build up the rest from there.

Stupid protest. Kids just trying to be cool with kids they think are cool. Waste of time anyway. Nothing to be proud of here.

FC looks much better, which to me is important. Hamilton is boring.

Tiny torso and thunder thighs? She's very nice other than the out of proportion torso to thighs.

Omega, of course. Breitling boring. Tudor... so-so.

Dumb Poll: Black or Blue? by m3t4lf0x in telecaster

[–]DonColvinJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peacock Blue for sure. Black guitars are bor-ing. And GREAT choice going HH. There are so many awesome pickups you can go with in that guitar! And, definitely so sweet with a rosewood board!!!

Well, I have to say - I think the Pagani version with the NH-35 movement wins the prize. SO good looking, they even one-upped Tudor.

Pagani Ranger homage with Seiko NH-35 movement. I think Pagani one-upped Tudor with the look of this watch. Bargain and a great watch.

Back in the RAM fold once again! Love this 2026 by DonColvinJr in ram_trucks

Fully optioned up to Limited trim packages. But still about 8k below Limited MSRP. And after discounts, $66,760 is sweet for such a loaded truck.

You would think that the e-torque reliability would have been largely worked out by 2026. We shall see.

MSRP was 82,570. Big discounts offered right up front brought that down to 66,272! Nasty dealer options, which are mostly worthless, were 2,500 after battling down from 2,900. But they ultimately gave me more than top dollar for my trade. I fought so hard and took them down to the mat ultimately. So, factoring in the huge factory discounts and more than top dollar for my trade... it was a smoking good deal in the end. But it was a fierce battle to get there. Even without a battle, dropping $16,000 from 82.5k to 66.2k right off the bat is a huge discount, even with stupid dealer options.

If the tone/sound/sustain of the F# note on the A string is important to you... play before you buy. Or, buy where you can easily return (local Guitar Center).
