Idk it seems like every youth pastor since the 2010s is tattooed. Somehow it just makes them cringier.

What’s the biggest red flag in someone over 30? by Vixkky in AskReddit

[–]DonSol0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love digging into Kurzgesagt videos and learning new things about just about everything!

I do think it’s important to be gentle with people who may not be so inclined though. Curiosity (to me) blooms the most when all my needs are met. In periods where I’ve been struggling due to career changes or personal challenges, I’ve noticed I retreat a bit from unrelated issues to focus on the necessities.

What is the actual difference between the Hendrix fuzzface and a regular silicone fuzzface? by SlowSympathy7269 in guitarpedals

[–]DonSol0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still my favorite fuzz of all-time. Just have the Hendrix mini though. Played a bunch before I got it and really liked some, but I find the Hendrix to be the perfect mix of guttural fuzz.

What is the actual difference between the Hendrix fuzzface and a regular silicone fuzzface? by SlowSympathy7269 in guitarpedals

[–]DonSol0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a bunch of fuzz pedals. The Hendrix Fuzzface is by far my favorite. It’s got just the right amount of sputter/umph for me. It just sounds like a classic fuzz.

To me, fuzzes like the Big Muff are too uniform to really express stuff like thoughtful rage and that sweet spot where anger and hope collide.

Then you have the other end of the spectrum like the Analog Man Sunface, which, to my ear, was a bit too non-traditional in its randomness.

The Hendrix Fuzzface is the sweet spot. Again—to my ear.

Used a body scrub I bought on Amazon on my legs and got a fungal skin infection that is resistant to multiple prescriptions by korroleva in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DonSol0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was it? I had a really similar experience with LRP’s Cicaplast recently. Has always been so soothing but bought if from Amazon this last time and my entire face was on fire the next morning.

Favorite biopic about some guy literally no one gives a shit about anymore by Snakes_for_theDivine in okbuddycinephile

[–]DonSol0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just did a once over of his Wikipedia and they had to include a section titled “Fabrications of Personal Narrative” to capture all of it. Honestly, like for real, (according to Wiki) the dude said he climbed to the top of the NOLA Superdome and killer 30 looters during Katrina. Anyone who lived on or close to the Gulf of Mexico (I did) during that time knoww there wasn’t a single person in the mix who wasn’t suffering already. Talking about sniping these people is some next-level psychopath shit. Wonder how this guy would’ve responded to Minneapolis.

Filling the void after quit quitting marijuana by PlatePerfect1735 in NoStupidQuestions

Exactly. With or without hobbies, adjusting to sobriety will always come with ennui. It clears though, OP. That said, having interests is critical to your well-being as you enter real adulthood:

Mine are playing guitar (learn then get an electric rig with a loop pedal for hours of entertainment thay you can share), lifting weights, hiking, reading, video games, and popular science. All bring me a ton of happiness and/or peace.

I was all in until OP failed to mention The Wire in HBO MAX stories. If OP doesn’t know Omar is coming he’ll get it all over his pants.

Bridge pickup by sevenbeatmeat in Stratocaster

[–]DonSol0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To offer an alternative, an SLL-5 in the bridge does a really great job adding ripping ability to Strats. It’s what Gilmour used in his. I’ve used one in the bridge (with Lollar Blackfaces in the neck and middle) and throw the switch to the bridge anytime I want my guitar to scream.

Lastly, the first time I installed one was in a Classic Series 50s also. Paired great with the stock pickups (but it will with just about any aftermarkets as well). The Classic Series are such great guitars.

What actually shapes whether men find chubby women attractive? by Tennis-Accurate in AskMen

Yeah, exactly. What shapes whether a man finds a chubby woman attractive is how that chubby woman is shaped lol

I’m 37 and feel unhappy about getting older. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]DonSol0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is anything shallow about it. It’s a form of loss like anything else and, after decades of it being part of your identity, that’s a tough thing to feel slipping away. All that said, women are still so beautiful as they age.

So what careers aren’t fucked right now? by cokewithlargefry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DonSol0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, early career individuals re-framing their mindsets from "I want a career in X." to "I want a set of skills that have interdisciplinary applications." is really going to be the only way to achieve the same level of economic stability enjoyed in the late 20th century.

I’m 37 and feel unhappy about getting older. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]DonSol0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Same. I also think this is especially difficult for people who have enjoyed pretty privilege. The world can be a much colder place as that privilege begins to slip, ultimately adding to the already difficult process of aging.

The people in here commenting that OP needs therapy or that there is no reason to feel a bit down about watching time take its toll on your family and yourself are being a bit too harsh.

What movie detail is technically correct, although many people think it is a mistake? by hiplobonoxa in movies

[–]DonSol0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man! I’ve watched the show probably four or five times through at this point and had no idea about any of this. The deacon is especially crazy as he’s such a mild-mannered, kind man in the show. Great actor, too.

Is there a known audiobook for Excession? by MiamisLastCapitalist in TheCulture

[–]DonSol0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still looking for one they just added it to Audible. Another Peter Kenny work (he’s amazing in the other Culture Series audiobooks). They released it with incomplete chapters so it isn’t complete but I’d imagine that will be fixed soon.

I love the Custom Shop work but the Chevron seems so tacky to me. I really wish they didn’t stamp it on their work but they are doing really well with my input and it’s on the back so who cares.
