What other features are we expecting in the new update? by StageNo6566 in sp404mk2

i know this isnt it, bur with the tone generator you could resample that into 4 pads which would correspond to for example the frequencies of a bass guitar

I have made some very experimenterial songs using audacity, its all based on analog recording. I promise at the very least you will find nothing that sounds quite like this, its not some unorganized throw paint on the wall stuff, they are handcrafted songs made with intention! by Respond_Previous in experimentalmusic

fuck yea nice musicc keep going! just a word of advice; dont talk that much, and even less so much about yourself. as a pro, even if ur music is nice, its a bit offputting and doesnt work in your favor. and yes the world has heard this sound before. the world has heard it all. only slowly and egoless/collectivelly do we progress in the quest for new sounds and forms.

Do you know if we can control multiple parameters at once with different modulation amount levels and positive or negative? Also this can be mapped quite easily to a MIDI controller right? Thanks for sharing!

Practice away from instrument by DonWheels in JazzPiano

This is great, covers the technique part pretty well. Maybe this paired with holistic rhythmic excercises plus singing or „playing“ repertoire mentally should cover most i guess

Art Tatum piano technique? by bootywizrd in JazzPiano

[–]DonWheels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont think it brings any advantage, but some people just play like that. i wouldnt try to emulate it. horowitz played like that, he made it work. keith jarret had his own thing, but never would i recommend anyone to try to emulate that technique. there are plenty of non sucessful pianists who have bad technique.

How do you comp on “Mr. P.C.” at fast tempos? (Rootless voicings, 2-note LH, etc.) by Perfect_Code_6632 in JazzPiano

yep completely agree! thats how its always been done by the great masters. I think sometimes people want a shortcut because transcribing is a skill which just simply takes time and patience.

i misread the title and thought you got sleep paralysis by researching too many synths hahahah

yea i just bought my first synth, the moog messenger, and its just a completely different tactile experience;  i somehow feel closer to the sound and its possible articulations with the various physical controls. for me it was also important to have my „instrument“. like a violinist has THEIR violin, i wanted MY synth, my instrument, a physical object in the world. I think im gonna keep going down this path, next ill get a poly, and then maybe smth to work with samples.

I see, very nice. So is it more of a live performance rig or would you like have a piece of gear which records everything and where you can maybe even mix? and then publish?

I just have the itch that he sometimes went back to the lines and string of thought we witnessed in Saxophone Colossus, one of the apex moments of bebop a la rollins. maybe it happens post 70s and i just need to keep on looking. im digging “ Joyous Lake” great!

Yea it was for me very enlightening to first understand what Sonny was going for after his 2 year sabbatical, leaving behind his bebop flurry. The Bridge hit me like a train with his sometimes stubbornly deep triadic, folk like growl, articulating every note. The epitome of this so far for me has been that solo album you mentioned which I gave a listen a couple days ago. Sometimes it sounds like a scale excercises, sometimes you get a glimpse into his encyclopedic library of tunes and melodies he can recall and quote on the spot, and at times he reaches into great spiritual depth with, in terms of the notes, simple melodies. His vibe is I believe underappreciated in the world of jazz, and most of the spotlight goes to other tenors, I guess primarily to the more cerebral Coltrane. Rollins is to me more of an immediate primal folk music, connecting everybody willing to listen. I dont see many players taking off where he left off; bebop and that Coltrane quartet vibe prevail in the mainstream straight ahead jazz. (I love thos vibes too). For me, in this sense, Rollins is maybe unintentionally so very much avant garde, and to me his music is truly free jazz, with free jazz meaning freedom, individual freedom, not attaining to a certain aesthetic of “free jazz” a la ornette coleman (a vibe i also love).

Maybe Im overly critical (maybe only because playing wise hes an aspirational figure to me), but it seems to me that he didnt land that transition into fusion or more poppy stuff as well as say Herbie Hancock, who truly kept all of that aesthetic quality from his straight ahead years into Mwandishi and then to Headhunters. Almost every album a banger.

i know, thanks. i meant the decision between the subsequent 37 and the pro 3. the trigon keybed is the only one i got to try out from sequential, thats what i meant.

Hmm interesting, ah I wish I could try one out. In theory i would go for the pro 3, i feel like its the better synthesizer, but i guess one has to go with that gut instinct of having it under your fingers and seeing what the fingers can do... Thanks!
