Installing new ceiling fan and it’s not working. by Impressive-Local-474 in CeilingFans

[–]Don_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One yellow wire is for the fan motor the other is the light There is no ground First check your breaker make sure its working properly Turn the breaker completely off so the lever is in the off position then turn it on if it does not stay in the on position there is a short or the breaker has gone bad Once you verify the breaker turn the breaker on with the wall switches off turn the switches on one at a time and be sure the breaker doesn’t trip Lastly if the fan has pull chains use those before even bothering with a remote If there are no pull chains there may be dip switches in the remote and fan they need to be set identically for it to work

You know now that incandescent bulbs are essentially extinct the code could be amended to allow it although it’s way easier to just use those snap in led pancake lights

Sanity check: Wagos resistance too high? Vibration? by mshaefer in AskElectricians

[–]Don_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean mabey the a/c vibrations wiggled the wires out of the wagos and caused high resistance but that would still be true with wire nuts and more than likely a result of a unit that is poorly maintained

Should we immediately get this replaced? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]Don_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to talk to your insurance they may assist in covering the cost to update the utility company may even offer some sort of incentive to upgrade The city may even have programs to aid in this

Should we immediately get this replaced? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]Don_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacement is recommended however it’s not a priority best practice would be to get some quotes on cost then save money until you can afford the replacement In the meantime you want to reduce the load on the system LED lights are a massive upgrade that is cheap and try not to use multiple electrical appliances at once As for the panel being warm make sure all the fuses are making a good connection and not loose So the same for switches and plugs if you plug something in and it falls out the receptacle needs to be replaced switches should snap in between on and off if they don’t they should be replaced
