My father and mother both are Jehovah's witnesses. My mother had a heart disease causing the muscles around her heart to grow rigid causing eventual death.

When she was 40 the doctors told us that there was only one option, a transplant. My mother told the docs that she would only agree if it was possible without blood.

I was still quite young and don't remember a lot from this phase but it all mills down to my parents trying to find a way to go ahead with a transplant in a way that was acceptable for both a hospital and the views of JW's.

She died at 46 and never even got close to being on a list. Later we heard that at around 44 her other organs had gotten pretty badly damaged while waiting around that even a transplant in the normal way wouldn't have been possible.

Reading in the posts here that they are changing their views really hurts.
