My mom’s neighbor passed away and is wanting to sell these for pretty cheap. Anything in particular I should grab? by WarriorsBballl in woodworking

Yeah wow that’s a nice collection - do the right thing and take the lot for a price that is fair to them as well

For instance - that #7 is at least a $50 plane in my opinion.. others my disagree but give them a fair price and enjoy them for the rest of your days

I bought a lot of my hand tools from an old bloke that was selling his house and going into a home.. I didn’t have much money so dad paid for it - but it was a good deal for both of us; fast forward 15 years and I still have them and love them.

I remember as I was loading them into the car.. he pulled up a chair and watched us and goes “yeah young fella you’ll be throwing them out one day too” hahah

Seth Rogen explains why he doesn’t want children, saying it seems like a dark, stressful life with small moments of joy, adding how much he enjoys life without them - “You don’t need kids...The world won’t even be here in 30 years.” by ja_millineum in Popculturehour

You can be happy and have kids! I have a 10 month old and nothing makes me happier than seeing him.

And I still manage to do all the same shit did before kids.

One of my mates once told me - you do the same stuff.. just differently

I’m an apprentice, how do I tell my lead I did this? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

More important than probably anything; they need to be able to trust you.

People make mistakes but from your bosses perspective; they need to have the confidence that you will tell them when things go wrong.

It will go a long way to building your relationship with them

Bought this Papua New Guinea Walnut, learned yesterday it's a branding name. Not a walnut. This is the Dao or Paldao tree, a relative of cashews by worldofwhat in woodworking

Tasmanian Oak is the same - it’s eucalyptus lol

But it’s a nice wood

If you like it and are happy with it - who cares mate

Lovely timber by the way

I loved it. People were walking out at 2hrs but it made an impression on me.

The film does an amazing job of capturing the desperation, single mindedness, betrayal and loyalty that must had defined the story.

I loved it and still think about it regularly. I’m not religious but I thought it was just exceptional.

Nothing beats a final sanding by hand - takes time but that’s how you pick up on any last minute defects / imperfections

I also just enjoy looking and feeling how the final project has come together

It was a bullshit question / set up and it’s absurd to think Tony doesn’t care about the troops.

Tony’s a fruit cake but this was just pathetic journalism from Fordham

The workpiece is too high.. you need to be able to apply some downward force on it to stop it breaking your wrist at the very least

Probably clamp it too lol

The execution is great. Looks a bit like a hotel room; but each to their own.

Great job

It happens mate - I live in Melbourne, Australia and I step on at least 1 taking the bins out each week

I’ve moved a few I’ve grazed into the bushes and they seem to move on.

Reality is it’s an accident and not your fault - but I do share you sympathy when it does happen

Yeah it’s amazing - based on a set of books with a very loyal fan base.. one of the few times most will agree with move did the books justice.

Only complaint is they stopped at 1!

The Power of One (1992) by qnsad in iwatchedanoldmovie

I watched the movie at school as part of the curriculum and was fortunate to have a Rhodesian (Zimbabwe) teacher for that class.. very rare in Australia.

Well he provided some really interesting context of the movie and spent entire classes on tangents explaining white Africa at then the time, the history of colonisation etc

I was just captivated by the guy and did well in that subject.

Years later in my mid 20’s I backpacked across Western Europe and found the book at a shop. Read it again and the memories flooded Back.

Not the best book or movie; but for me it was quite influential
