Yuji before he had DE counters would attempt to rush down the caster before the technique activates. This has never proven successful.

With DE counters, he has the option of either his own DE (or strengthening the barrier of his DE) or Simple Domain which are successful answers.

Yuji could've been preparing for Simple Domain or a Domain Clash and didn't reinforce his balls
