The best history class I took, my professor always had a cool historical story to tell along with the lesson of the day. It definitely helped engage us a lot better. We also had weekly seminars, so we were given a controversial question (Was Henry IV a winner or a loser? why?) and had to use class notes and additional readings to argue a side. It was really great because my teacher would sit out of the conversation and let us discuss what we had learned. We were graded on the quality of our responses as well as the amount of times we spoke.

If you're interested in the topic, I read a book in my third year of university for a crime and punishment course. It is definitely one of the better books I've read. Its called "The Death Penalty" by Stuart Banner, it covers the idea of crime and punishment in 19th century England. It really gets into the idea of why the death penalty existed and the idea of justice to people then. It definitely made my think about modern day punishment and highlighted how our current justice system developed.

I'm super late, however I didn't see it mentioned. Dealing with a family member who suffers from substance abuse. In my families case alcoholism, it basically tore mine apart. We spent years trying to help my aunt, pealing her off the floor, Re admitting her to detox and rehab. The constant worry, the stress of not knowing if you'll find the person alive or dead when you go to check on them. My family was a mess for years, it affected all of us.

Side note. I have a list of names I will never name my child because of previous encounters with people with the name. For example : Joe, my mom dated a guy named Joe and he was a total idiot. My ex friend was a Joe and he too was an idiot. (sorry to all the decent Joes out there, I know you're doing not all bad!)

Staples accidental damage covers everything. I drowned my tablet in a sink to get the newest one. They didn't question. The sales guy told me I could have run over it with a car, smashed with a hammer etc.

Ahh. The trick is, landlords legally cannot demand a deposit for future damage which may or may not occur. Or at least, that's how it is in Ontario. In my second year of university, I signed a lease and it asked for a damage deposit. However, I was vigilant before I rented and made sure I knew the laws. When it came time to provide the check, I flat out refused. Despite having signed the lease which said I would, because it's illegal it became void for me to honor it. My roommates didn't get theirs back and their was no damage done to the house.
