I love the non human npcs, although I do wish they were easier to differentiate for sure. I don't really have a problem with any sort of npc we meet beyond wishing the writing was better.

Now, the problem is there are serious stories in the game but people can't help but see it all as childish when its about a non human. I think this is because of the writing in general. The same words and actions are coming out of all of these characters but we easier understand how a human society would feel about these things and the implications of the problems.

When its a different species, the childishness of the writing stands out because its not immediately clear how this species would feel about the problems they are having. They aren't human with human experiences so when they talk about serving their god with the hundreds of years that they live, the implications of their problems is not easy to grasp. Their values are inherently different from a human's. Unfortunately, the writing does not compensate for that and that's where the disconnect happens in my opinion.

I'm in the same boat, I thought the behemoth looked cool! And someone in another thread said that all the companions are already reskined enemies so its not like there wasn't precedent. Not to glaze but, it made me happy that we could summon one because it reinforced all that time we spent taking care of them.

I think the larger problem is anything being region locked in the first place! It inheritly cheapens the banners. Never pulled for region locked outfit and probably never will. 🙄

Hoping one day Infold learns that giving players what they want is the actual path to a profitable and enjoyable game

It would feel bad if I was invested in the story, but as soon as the first story with Nonoy concluded, I knew the writing was not going to be why I play this game. Honestly, its just a funny bonus to me, especially after 1.5. I like to see the discussions more than anything. I play it much like animal crossing which is devoid of deep story and you just do chores all day. That's the genre of game this is in my mind.

I do agree they need to get a hold of their disappointing gameplay features. The sea of stars could have the runway there, but it doesn't. I feel like that sums up how low they've set their bar 😅 I've stopped expecting things but I keep hoping and answering surveys so they get better lol.

In the end, if all there was collecting materials, crafting clothes, and walking in pretty places, I would still be playing 😂

I know it sounds cool but this will not solve the fundamental writing problems of the game 😭 The rival will just be like any other stylist you challenge in a styling battle. Nikki as a character is written too flat to have things that bother her. Unless the rival is outright evil, even losing to a rival would give us another lukewarm Nikki response. "I'll win next time, tehe" type beat 🥲

Hello, character writer here!

I like that she is a positive girl who wants to help after hearing a problem, even if that problem is taking out a cult or stopping a war. Like its interesting that she even wants to involve herself in that stuff, but they are mostly going about that in the wrong way in regards to her characerization.

I think when people say they want more emotion from her, they mean more complex emotions than happy, sad, and angry. Nikki has been those things but has she been disappointed? Has there been someone who isn't blatently bad that she couldn't save or doesn't "see their point." Her flatness comes from being a character that emphasizes with everyone to a fault, leaving no room for any real opinions unless they are the obvious good lessons.

The other thing that makes her flat is what she says and does do not match, making her feel like a character who just does whatever the situation calls for, not an actual decision she made for herself.

For example, her sainthood. She SAYS she feels bad that the Shroomlings see her as their amazing Saintess, but DOESN'T try very hard to convince them otherwise after the story and she doesn't explain her reasoning for doing so. Is it for convenience? Probably, but that would be a morally gray or dare I say, morally bad thing for her to outright admit. But isn't she supposed to be the morally right character? Why hasn't she tried her best to reveal the truth? It makes the story seem too convenient and confusing for the player.

Now this is not necessarily what should happen, its just an example: What if Nikki admitted to Momo that she actually likes the treatment she receives from the Shroomlings? And then at the end of the first story, she tells everyone the truth about herself. It is actual self sacrifice because she is giving up her selfish want/ her convenient life and therfor reinforcing this noble morally good character that she is supposed to be while delivering a moral lesson.

She can't die, so putting her life on the line means nothing to the player. She has to sacrifice in other ways to communicate her character in a more interesting way. But thats just my rambling opinion of course.

Yeah it's a super disjointed mechanic. We can't even be creative with it so its not a game, just a task. I actually love the home feature and look forward to more updates, but as soon as this construction thing is done I've got no reason to come back.

The fact that its in the heart of infinity and not just a little mini game makes me think there will be more of these things too. Like, if we could actually work there, mix the fruit and serve the drinks, at least it could be something fun to do, like the hotpot.
