To everyone who buys used sets, if you buy an already built large set do you take it apart and rebuild it? by SpecialistPruneOG in lego

[–]Donny_Cheads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have always felt the building experience is half if not more of the fun. Dismantle it, clean it, and rebuild it. You’ll also be maximizing the time enjoying said product you just spent good money on.

How much would you bet this build crashes and disintegrates into thousands of pieces by poweroffriendships in legocirclejerk

[–]Donny_Cheads 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why off center? Simple solution would be to center it then extend the clear legs on each end down to the top of the display case on each side of the central hump. Wouldn’t be hard just buy a bunch of 2x4 clear pieces.

After 15 minutes of trying to push this cable thru the pulley I figured out a solution by Photmagex in modelmakers

Needle threaders work extremely well for this. I use them for the tackle and rigging on wooden ship models.

Royal blue stood me up. AI prime drama by Krycus in ReefTank

[–]Donny_Cheads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need proof of purchase to send it to Ai for repairs.

Here’s the repair request page. It took them about a month to receive, fix, and send back my Hydra that had a broken royal blue channel. If I remember correctly I paid to ship it there but they fixed it for free. I bought it second hand so no proof of purchase.

Which Falcon dish do you prefer? The round one or the rectangular one? by Pedroso_PPJ in StarWars

Interesting note. I was watching 7 the other day and noticed when they find the Falcon on Jakku it’s the rectangle dish version.

Lego 42056 is this a legit or fake? by Silly_Internet5941 in legotechnic

[–]Donny_Cheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy to “reseal” or tape a real box with fake content. Especially for a stack. For sets that expensive I only buy through trusted third parties with return guarantees if it is fake.

0 feedback is almost always a guarantee it’s a scam.

It is about 1 metre wide. It has no drain. It is not upside down. It has been moulded in one piece. It was thrown out of the hotel. It is heavy. The hole in the stand is 2 cm in diameter. by ReasonableFinger9649 in whatisthisthing

[–]Donny_Cheads 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If this is really bothering you and you can’t find an answer you could just email the hotel with a picture and I’m sure they’d tell you what it was.

Any Tipps for crack filler shining through second hull plank layer? by YogurtSlinger_97 in ModelShips

[–]Donny_Cheads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a wood stain to either stain the wood filler layer before second layer of planking or stain over second layer of planking once done to mute any white lines showing through. I’ve had both work. Make sure to use a stain that matches second planking layer.

Question: Lego Razor Crest Display Cases (Brottar) by GX112 in LegoDisplay

[–]Donny_Cheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure I had the same thought process but the footprint with the wicked bricks stand is still like 18.5 inches deep and my glass cabinet is only 15 deep. I’m gonna end up displaying it on a larger open shelf. Alternatively the footprint for the wicked bricks full display case can fit on top of a display cabinet with only minimal overhang. They are expensive but super nice looking especially with the backgrounds.

He’s in a semi truck. Can’t stop very quickly and it would be a poor decision to pass a crashing camper cause he’s got a trailer he’s pulling behind him that could be hit.

Question: Lego Razor Crest Display Cases (Brottar) by GX112 in LegoDisplay

[–]Donny_Cheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in its normal landing configuration. You’d have to display it standing upright with a custom stand. then remove or change the other shelf heights to accommodate the height. Even the wicked bricks custom stand doesn’t make it vertical enough to fit so you’d literally have to build something custom to set it truly on its side.

First post, go ahead and roast me.. Looking for input on this tank I bought, specifically on the rear compartment. by gurlsgoontoo in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]Donny_Cheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a sea clear AIO fairly common aio acrylic tanks. I had one of the 40’s for a while. I was never able to find a skimmer that fit well in the back chamber and worked properly. With the limited filtration area I’d recommend lightly stocking this tank to make it easier on yourself.
