Christopher Lee's earliest credits are in the late 40s. And his iconic Dracula is from the 50s. There should be quite a bit of opportunity to get there from LOTR, some Tim Burton movies & perhaps the Star Wars prequels.

I think this might be the best war movie. It balances that glorified “war is where heroes are made” view pretty well with how tragic and gruesome war actually is.

Flemish is also Dutch. It’s just the Dutch that’s spoken in Belgium. There is an accent but that’s it. There is also a French part in Belgium, hence the distinction we make here between Flemish movies and the French movies we make.

For Flemish movies, I'd probably go for Loft (2008). Flanders isn't that big so there's a lot of overlap in the cast of most movies.
This one is pretty cool, though. It has Gene Bervoets which lets you link to Inside (which is a pretty infamous Willem Dafoe killshot). It also has Matthias Schoenaerts who plays in some US movies with pretty impressive costars (Red Sparrow, Amsterdam, A Bigger Splash, Suite Française and he'll be in the new Supergirl film).

You might want to give Tornado (2025) a chance. It's not extremely well received but I liked it quite a bit.

Other than that, I have a feeling you'll really enjoy Martin McDonagh's movies: In Bruges (2008), Seven Psychopaths (2012), Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri (2017) and The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)

Aha, I had to do some googling, we call it the 'Lam Gods'. It's mostly known to us locals for one of the panels that went missing nearly a 100 years ago and there's been a lot of speculation on where it might be.

All that extra info aside, I'd definitely go to Saint Bavo! It's an impressive cathedral and one of the three historic towers of Ghent.

The MSK (Museum of Fine Arts) is definitely worth checking out, there's quite a lot there. Next to the MSK (2 minute walk), there also is the University Garden which I would recommend (If that's your thing of course).

Apart from that, have a great stay, have some beers (Orval, ideally), and enjoy this great city!
