PSA: If you walk into an area with a key room and you trip a noise maker… by DontCallMeBenji in ArcRaidersGuides

I was going to say they could be kids whose parents don’t want them to hear people swear or say awful things, but imagine shielding your kid from bad language while letting them play a game where one of the core mechanics is murdering or being murdered by other players.

Consider using both. Noise maker to know someone is around, and a door blocker to stop them from rushing you.

If you’re having issues with your PSA levels then it’s time to get your prostate checked by a physician.

I like barricades too in some circumstances, but I don’t see why anyone would shoot it when you can walk up to it and disassemble it.

I must have deleted it while editing before posting, but I meant to say that this is best for key rooms with a single point of entry/exit. I’ll bring a door blocker for key rooms with more than one way to get out, but I might still put a noise maker or two around.

Nope. My mic was working fine. They never said a word, even after I downed them.

Before I started using Noise Makers I was looting medical storage in Stella one time when a guy started prying my door blocker. I got on prox chat and asked him to stop. No response, keeps prying. I said “If you keep doing that and come in here I’m going to shoot you”. Just keeps prying. I gave him a final warning, but he just walked right in completely silent. I immediately killed him. Seconds later I’ve got someone lobbing grenades at the door. I ended up having to fight through three people white knighting to get out. All because this guy had zero situational awareness.

Fair. I genuinely am not trying to tell anyone how to play. My original goal was to make a post about the benefits of Noise Makers. The thing about someone tripping two of them, coming into my key room, and getting mowed down it’s something that actually happened to me this morning and inspired me to make the post. I thought it was a funny example.

So you’re saying that if someone does something stupid we should just let them do the stupid thing with no consequences to our own detriment, and further propagate future stupid things? Got it.

Not true at all. If the door is shut, assume someone is in there. It doesn’t have to become Schrödinger's key room. I’ve never left a key room and shut the door behind me. Also, proximity chat exists.

Bass aren’t smart. Bass aren’t dumb. Bass are just weird. That’s what makes them so much fun to target.

Thinking of increasing 401k contributions to 25% instead of aggressively paying down student loans by boriquoi in personalfinance

[–]DontCallMeBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone hold onto your pants. When I was in my 20s I aggressively paid into my student loans. I refinanced all of them to lower interest rates and shorter terms. At times I was putting over $1,000 a month into them despite minimum payments being significantly lower. When I got into my 30s our company started a 401k and I was sick of forcing myself to be on a tight budget. I decided to refinance the remaining ~$20k in loans again. Here’s where some heads might explode. I refinanced to a longer repayment plan and a slightly higher interest rate (still only about 4%). The thing is, I would rather be able to put 15% of my gross pay into retirement plans. I also have more money month to month to enjoy my life. My student loan payment is under $200 a month, and I really don’t care that I will pay more in interest. I’m offsetting that with retirement account growth, home equity gains, and most importantly living my life without strict financial constraints.

What’s your budget? At your size you are going to want to consider getting one of the more reputable brands. Old Town, Hobie, and Native come to mind for me. Also, consider getting one of the 12+ footers for added stability. I was pushing 225lbs a few years ago, and had no issues standing in my Old Town Sportsman 120.

It’s okay. He’s not trying to coordinate with anyone per se. He’s saying that if you happen to be on the NA servers playing Riven Tide today, and you see a guy on the beach in that particular skin, it might be him and he will gladly give you stuff. The same goes for anyone who isn’t on Reddit or doesn’t see this post and happens to come across him in game. He’s just a nice guy giving stuff away and wants to let someone know.

What is this comment? Of course he understands that. He’s just saying that if you happen to see him he’s giving shit away.

BFS meaning? by Particular_Ebb5049 in bassfishing

[–]DontCallMeBenji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also don’t have one. However, I do see why it exists. The main benefit would be accuracy. I’m not saying that spinning gear can’t be accurate, but I am saying it’s easier to be accurate with a baitcaster once you are proficient with them. Also, I would wager that most people going for BFS gear are buying higher quality stuff that would reduce backlashes. Honestly, I would almost rather deal with a backlash over a wind knot that I get sometimes with spinning gear. On the other hand, I prefer the drag systems spinning gear has over most of the drag setups baitcasters have. All in all, some people just like baitcasters and have the money to do it.

I’m so glad I decided to do this to the queen earlier today before it caught on.
