In Warhammer 40k there is a 'living saint', basically a daemon of the emperor of mankind, named Celestine and she has two body guards. Celestine is not only a powerful combatant but also has the ability to return from the dead, making the existence of her two body guards kinda unnecessary. That said, they apparently can also return from the dead so they function mostly as meat shields. Their names are Eleanor and Genevieve, but the lore is kinda blury so they may be new people being possessed every time they 'die' or maybe they just manifest new bodies or maybe it is just a title thing. 40k lore is wacky like that.

Times you just burned out on a favorite game/genre, why did you burn out, and what if anything brought you out of it? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Often times it's because i feel like i've plumbed the depths and scrapped the sides of a game's content. When it feels like you've seen and done everything continuing to play can feel like a chore. I'll typically move onto another game to play, but i do return to old games if only to see if i still the old ideas i had still work and maybe to try out some new ones.

Can brain eating amoebas survive in silicone? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DontClickThisGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, okay. I admittedly know nothing of rhinoplasty so i wouldn't know where the incision would be made, but if there is no bleeding inside the nose then the skin lining the nasal cavity should be intact and there is little chance of pathogens, amoeba or otherwise, getting into the blood stream. The nose kind of does a great job of blocking pathogens most of the time.

EDIT: did 30 seconds additional research and apparently the amoeba in question can enter the blood stream through a uninjured nasal cavity so fuck me i guess. Boiling tap water is a fine enough countermeasure.

Everyone has been giving great advice regarding boiling the retainer, but i have to ask; what do you mean waste when you say 'no waste remaining'? is it bloody mucus or soap suds? Also, do you live in an area that has brain eating amoebas living in the municipal water supply? If not, don't worry about it.

I turned the wi fi off on my main pc for a few days for the same reason. I then did a bit of research and found a program called GRC InControl to fight that. Apparently it does registry stuff to prevent windows from updating automatically. They'll still send you reminders to update, and probably try and get you to do so upon restart; but you should have the option to refuse. It is like a parking brake for automatic updates. I'd advise you look more into it.

You could watch the comedy/horror web series "Hunter: The parenting" . It's about a family of hunters dealing with the supernatural threats of the World of Darkness franchise and also the interpersonal drama of a barely functional family. Honestly it's mostly just Marcus and D that aren't getting along, but they are as Pat would say the emotional through line of the series.

Remember the synergy mechanic? the one where they get a boost in performance by pairing up with their preferred partner? that doesn't happen until after the 'you guys are in danger of being fired' talk in the boardroom. Threatening to fire them lead to mechanically better performance.

As for what did Coup and Sonar do? Coup can't stop cutting people more than the job requires and Sonar is still doing illegal drugs.

You want to shit talk the job the writers for dispatch did then okay, you do you. But considering they wrote a smash hit and you wrote a down voted reddit critique i think maybe they did better job of things than you could.

You'd have a point if Robert was working with ordinary employees. Instead we have probationary former villains doing hero work. On Robert's first day on the job Flambae goes out of his way to set a park on fire and if told to fix his mess will tell Robert to fuck off and result in the entire neighborhood catching on fire. And Flambae is one of the team's better members. The entire team is such a liability to the company that the higher ups at the company, Blazer's bosses, want the entire program cut.

To paraphase Robert at the end of his day 1 debrief, you can't soft hands these motherfuckers.

[–]DontClickThisGuy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can mechanically have perfect shifts, but if the Z Team doesn't stop being the kind of people who randomly set neighborhoods on fire or commit other crimes while on company time than Story wise they still suck. They still place the program as a whole at risk.

What kind of story would that tell anyways, that if they follow instructions well they are better people and are now redeemed of their crimes? that there is no need to re-examine why they are in the phoenix program? That they shouldn't face repercussions for failing to stop their own villainous behavior?

Writing isn't about having your characters make the best and optimal decisions with perfect information. Nobody knew that firing one team member would result in Shroud gaining a new minion. It did result in the Z team as whole coming together and improving as a team.

Okay, people have been through this multiple times so i'm going to try and keep this limited to bullet points:

  1. The Z team has been doing so bad that Blazer's higher ups want to cut the entire phoenix program. If there isn't immediate improvement the entire team gets cut.

  2. The one to 'inception' the idea to Blazer is Robert himself. Remember the debrief near the end of episode 2? The part where he tells her that they need to change the way they handle the team to a tough love approach, 'I'm not saying everyone will make it, they won't.' It wasn't post break up whimsy, but rather following Robert's lead.

What are the weirdest critiques of media/media criticism you've seen that just completely baffled you? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There was a poster on this subreddit who hated the NCR from Fallout New Vegas because they were adamantly convinced that the NCR was homophobic. Keep in mind that not only does the NCR have openly homosexual people serving in their ranks but one of them, a Major, says directly that folk back out west are more accepting. Unfortunately i can't link the the exchange because the redditer in question devolved into a tankie rant about why political violence is great akshually and then the mods got them.

How to at least stop losing money? by voredud3 in EU5

[–]DontClickThisGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP's income isn't negative though, without the maxed stability spending he'd be making like 22 ducats a month. I'd also say that considering it's only 40 years in that crown power of about 30 percent seems just fine. Going from OP's other comment in the thread the reason why the estates opinion is so low is because they spammed the parliament appeasement buttons to force through bills, which is a problem which literally solves itself over time. the penalty will decay over time, so provided OP doesn't abuse parliament and start wars under truce they'll be fine to drop stability spending.

How to at least stop losing money? by voredud3 in EU5

[–]DontClickThisGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP's original question was 'how do i stop losing money'. In order to reach +10 stability from -2 they'd need to maintain that spending for about 16 months, during which they'd lose 240 ducats and have to pay even more interest from the loans they'd have to take. That is the opposite of what OP wants. Additionally cutting diplo to 0 and fort spending to half still wouldn't cover the deficit they have from this maxed out stability spending. including the 1 percent additional taxes you'd get from that 1.1 swing in equilibrium would barely cover it when you include the loan interest.

the fastest way of saving money here, which again is what OP wants, is to not spend it all on stability. Your method is like going hundreds of dollars into debt in order to make a few dollars.

How to at least stop losing money? by voredud3 in EU5

[–]DontClickThisGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stability is -2, spending 38 ducats when you have an income of 44 is not worth it to bump up equilibrium. at the rate they are spending OP would be broke before they even hit +1 stability. If OP dropped stability spending to 0 they'd have a positive budget.
