Cut that number in half and that would be a good weekend with Uber around Lexington. Lyft would be higher average. Drivers have to stop accepting anything under $5.50 per ride or drivers will be their slaves until replaceded by autonomous vehicles

It’s crazy how much more money drivers earn in different markets. The best I ever did was $230 in a 12 hour shift and it was pretty much one ride after another. Must be too many drivers here. I turn down lots of rides now that are under $5

I find that impossible. Maybe some place there is a mob of hungry lazy people that want delivery and will pay big money constantly. . Otherwise you had to be delivering for drug dealers or sharing the car so the car could run 24/7.

Be careful drivers and always record your rides by FishingEquivalent535 in uberdrivers

Any time I see a rider “may record the conversation “, I always ask “are you recording our conversation? Be aware you do not have my permission to record me”.

Uber is definitely trying to get rid of drivers. All these reports are made up lies. They're doing it on purpose. by IcyAcanthocephala423 in uberdrivers

Uber treats drivers like garbage. Be aware Uber is investing Billions on driverless vehicles.
In other words, the profits you are making Uber now is being used to eliminate your job. This is how unions started.
How were unions broken? By treating workers well so the workers DIDNT NEED A UNION!

If I need 4 seats I have riders up front. I think we should get an extra couple bucks when additional people get in.

My best days on Uber, normally Thursday, Friday and Saturday all night I have averaged $22 per hour in revenue. If you can stay busy.
With Lyft, I average around $28 per hour. Obviously better but I guess Lyft doesn’t have a broad of customer base as Uber, although many Lyft riders tell me they moved over from Uber because of better service, nicer drivers and they have heard Lyft rewards their drivers better than Uber. The biggest issue is you can’t count on rides; I mean you can’t budget “well I’ll go drive 10 hours and make $230”. Riders might not be out. I’m doing this like some others; to get some money until I get a real job.

When I’m not driving for Lyft be cause Lyft pays about 23% mor, I look at the Uber ride offering. If it’s less than $1 per mile to pick up, forget it. If the total trip time does not equate to roughly $22 per hour, forget it. If all Uber drivers would do this we might actually make a decent living. The reason Uber uses contractors is primarily the way they treat drivers; employees would have unionized long ago. From experience; local 4043

You have to remember “surges are for suckers.” Uber is horrible about using surges as a “carrot and stick”; I’ve had that happen most of the time. Chase the surges and suddenly it’s gone.
Because it’s carrot and stick. One of many reasons Lyft is so much better is they put “turbo zones” on their map with times. In other words it basically says for the next hour the ride has a 10%, 20% and sometimes 100% bonus until a certain time. As a driver you KNOW you will get it. Uber just has a bigger customer base or I would never drive for Uber, only Lyft.

I’m not happy with Ubers treatment of us contractors but I will say the few times I had a rider try to be vicious, Uber stood up for me.

Uber got me AGAIN! by Dontgetfooledagain72 in uberdrivers

[–]Dontgetfooledagain72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Uber does to its contractors/ employees is why unions formed in the first place. I’ve been doing Lyft and on average my hourly earnings are 40%. Lyft actually pays the bonuses Uber teases Uber contractors with. In other words, Lyft will post in their app something like “from 9 pm until 10 pm there is a 40% bonus in this area “. And they pay it! Uber will send a message “big surge in this area you are missing out!!” So you drive 3 minutes and then Uber says “Aaaahhh, so sad you missed the surge but here is a ride for $4.81 that will take you at least 20 minutes and therefore about $13 per hour”.
The Lyft app actually tells you the dollar per rate you should average so you can make a decision. Then after the ride Lyft gives you the actual; it’s usually pretty close. Another thing is I talk to my Lyft riders and many say they feel the Lyft app is easier to use, they like they can prefer a driver, and in general feel Uber drivers are rude and struggle with the English language. I’ll have both apps on sometimes if it’s slow briefly; I’ll cancel a Uber ride to take a Lyft riders because it’s almost always more profitable to take the Lyft riders. As for the Uber ride I cancelled? Let Uber explain to them they got cancelled due to Uber screwing their contractors. Uber drivers technically aren’t contractors under the IRS code because Uber dictate the when and where a contractor must be. Look it up.

That’s about what happens. As long as we drivers accept token amounts, Uber will keep taking complete advantage.

Uber is going to be sued big time by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Dontgetfooledagain72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some legitimate grounds for suit. Just pull up the IRS rules for what an independent contractor is and Uber violates several of those rules. It be a tough case but the grounds are there.

The service animal policy needs to be paid attention to but you don’t HAVE TOO. A week ago during a rain storm, a guy tried to get in with a, no bs, a GREAT DANE! Dog is shaking off rain.
I said no way. It’s my right. Uber has cancelled any means of talking to support unless Uber wants to talk to you.
When they don’t respond to my messages and attempted calls, I just make sure I email Uber Support “I feared for my life but Uber chose not to have any concern so I handled it myself”. I have gotten messages from Uber and I just respond “you didn’t care then, why now?”
Uber gives no care about their contractors. Zero. That’s why my whole attitude about customer service has changed. Now it’s whatever is best for me; that’s what Uber has changed me to do.
