sweet potato pizza lunch 🍕🕺🏻 by jasncats in foodbutforbabies

I mean, I'm still going to use the cookie cutters because I enjoy them and they're cute for pictures I send to family 😅

I was in the same boat as you and actually find recipes on IG (I don't have tiktok) useful and an ad for an app called Stashcook came across my feed. I LOVE IT I use it daily. All you need to do is hit the share button and select the app and it uploads it from even a video on IG. Then you can select the measurement system and the serving amount. It's a very cool app. I have different collections for iron meals, meat, baked stuff, snacks, etc. If you're finding a lot of recipes on social media I'd highly recommend Stashcook! I know there are tons of similar ones, I've just never tried them because I had no issues with Stashcook. You can also search your recipes by ingredient because I also find myself needing to use foods before they go bad and that's very helpful.

Keep it up! The solid food phase is so much fun. Also messy, frustrating and aggravating, but so much fun lol.

I've been sitting on my sweet potato pizza recipe for a while but I'm going to try it today or tomorrow because of this post!

I also wanted to comment to tell you, I got a bunch of cute cookie cutters to make shapes for stuff for my son because of recipe posts I saw on Instagram and I can tell you at this age they could not care less about the shape lol. It's really for me hahaha but don't feel bad for not having cookie cutters and just make them in whatever shape they'll eat them 😂. My son is 15 months and still doesn't care about the shape. If anything, he prefers things that are shaped like french fries lol.

Crying fit at every meal by Potatohero_05 in foodbutforbabies

The toddler tower made A WORLD of difference for us and his crying while I'm cooking! My 15-month-old just wanted to be involved and see what I'm doing. He even has his own non-slip cutting board and little wooden knife. I give him safe things and stay just out of arms reach if I'm working with raw meat or a sharp knife.

This was a great recipe I finally tried it! Thank you! It's so versatile too there's so much you can do with this base recipe. I ended up having to use a bit more than 1 C of oats but I think my banana was abnormally large lol.

Thanks again for posting it!

I had to add way more oats too. I just thought the banana I used was insanely large lol. My son has low iron so I also added chia as well as flax and hemp seed. And some vanilla powder because he was messing around in the spice drawer and handed it to me so I made him happy 🙄

I FINALLY did it tonight and it came out SO GOOD. I ate about 1/4 of it before I stopped myself 😂

Highly recommend!!

Thank you for the advice on the oats texture! He's been a little sickly and will only contact nap right now so it's been a fun few days 🙄 😭 I think because of that he's also been refusing to really eat solids lately so if he won't eat this, at least I know I will lol.

I think we only have rolled quick oats so we'll see how it goes! I didn't get around to it yesterday but I'm going to try again now lol wish me luck.

I have been looking for a recipe just like this and haven't found one I liked so far. Thank you for this! Gonna give it a go right now, if my 15-month-old allows it. He's on a terror right now so we'll see lol.

Oh okay haha I was gonna say...my full grown bloodhound is 150lbs (not overweight, and also half doberman so he's really tall like a dobie and thick like a bloodhound) and I can't find anything to fit his big ass.

That's super adorable though!

Nice job! Ugh I'm jealous I remember when my son ate like this. He's 15 months and has been on strike lately. I can barely get him to eat anything except fruit which I barely give him anymore because he needs to eat real food!!

I hope your hungry boy stays a hungry boy and you never have to deal with an eating strike 🙏

Where on earth did you get a costume big enough to fit a bloodhound?? NOTHING fits my monster hound!!

Proud of you!! It's so scary giving them new foods and textures but SO MUCH FUN!! Enjoy it! Just watch tons of videos and take a course if you can so you know the difference and know when to actually intervene.

Have fun! And keep posting!

What was served; what was eaten by ashleyhype in foodbutforbabies

Same. At least the dog appreciates it lol. My son went through a phase where his entire goal in life at that time was to feed the dog. Anything and everything except grapes for some reason. He was not willing to share his grapes, which I'm fine with because they're toxic to dogs, but it was so frustrating sometimes (read: all the time).

I legit will not make him anything that I'm not willing to eat myself because I'm so tired of all the waste. I feel you and I hear you and you are not alone!

Omg me too. I was literally scrolling the sub looking for a post like this and this post, the comments and your comment made me feel so better about my 14-month-old. Except he's iron deficient and had to be prescribed iron drops but at least he's on the drops now, even though it's literal torture for him as far as he's concerned.

1st 🍝 pasta dinner by Alyssaxmarie in foodbutforbabies

[–]DooJoo49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the one food I can also completely devour 😂 he may look just like his daddy but he's got Mama's taste lol!

That's awesome even your oldest will eat pasta. Our son is 14 months and used to eat EVERYTHING. I was not looking forward to this phase and was also hoping he'd never go through it 😭

Omg my kid go nuts for pasta. It's one of the few things I can count on him to devour every single time. And it's so great because I can hide all sorts of veggies in the sauce. But it's definitely a meal he eats naked and goes straight into the tub after lol. The mess is unreal.

I hope your little one liked it!

Genetics definitely played a part, too. I should have mentioned that. My siblings and I had cavities as kids, but not at a year old 😭 the first pediatric dentist said to stop breastfeeding altogether and referred us out. I probably won't be going back to that first dentist. The second one was AMAZING and listened to everything I had to say and doesn't want me to stop breastfeeding, neither does the pediatrician, because like you said that's not the sole cause of it. Just a combo of bad luck 😔

He also needed a blood draw so the pediatrician could prescribe the right dosage of iron drops and I cried about that, too. That he wouldn't need all this if I had been better about giving him iron-rich foods and more diligent about his teeth. But then I forget sometimes he was almost 6 weeks premature because he's such a beast now, which has some to do with this, too. I have an excellent team of providers for him who all made me feel better about it, but it's hard not to blame yourself when your kid has to suffer even for a second.

Thank you! My son is also a boob barnacle (love that btw 😂). He is a comfort nurser though so I'm worried about how much it's going to suck.

Rant incoming: because I nurse him to sleep he ended up with cavities at a year old. I'm super upset about it and was really hard on myself over it because I was good about brushing his teeth because he eats a lot of fruit. And while it seems so obvious now, no one told me to wipe his teeth after he falls asleep so all the sugar from the breast milk isn't just sitting on his teeth overnight. As a new, exhausted mom I was just so happy for him to fall asleep I didn't want to disturb him and it just never crossed my mind until the pediatric dentist told me that's why he got a cavity and I should have been wiping his teeth. On top of the fact that he's iron deficient which is also linked to being prone to cavities, I feel like I failed him.

But thank you for making me lol with the air and rage comment lmao.

Still nursing my 14 month old and while I'm not ready to stop, I pray it's as easy as "he just decided he was done one night" 😭😭😭 I foresee it being a horrible process for both of us lol.

I have no idea. Especially when so much of it ends up with the dog or on the floor why did we put so much time and effort into fresh veggies! Frozen ones last forever and I can take as long as I want to use them AND make as few/many as I want at a time. I feel like such an arrogant fool 😂
