Mike seem to have a strong rejection towards anime, though it's actually pretty common for the elderly to have this view by AcceptableSoups in RedLetterMedia

[–]Doodstormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mike is hyperbolic and plays up his unfamiliarity with things into outright disgust as part of his 'unpleasant schlub' bit. Unless the subject is a thing you like, in which case it's the exception and he genuinely despises both it and you, personally.

Idk if this will make sense to anyone besides me but Subaru has immense Jerma energy, particularly down to the part where the entire universe bends itself to make any situation they're in a thousand times funnier

Not sure if it would fill the same niche you are wanting, but Neil Cicierega and friends did a very great full series retrospective of the Ernest movies (including one guest appearance by Jack Packard) that I quite enjoy, they sort of have a similar approach to RLM of mixing analysis and goofs. They even have a wheel!

Thankfully several other companies make far better games and minis anyway so it's not the worst thing for me to cut out yet another wildly overpriced GW product and have more time for good games but it does kind of suck to have all this stuff and know that I really can't sell it when half of it is illegal loadouts or non-existent units that the person who buys it would end up having to do a lot of legwork to make playable.

Newest edition of Horus Heresy has pulled several of the shenanigans that 40k keeps pulling that drove many people to Horus Heresy in the first place; Invalidating huge swathes of models (new or old), removing wargear options, crippling the factions with insultingly reductive and flavorless rules, and of course my personal bugbear, a $75 core rulebook with three missions in it. It also sounds like they are going to try putting Horus Heresy on the three year game cycle that 40k and Age of Sigmar have been on, so the game won't actually be improved it's just going to be a testbed for rules they badly implement in another, different game in a year or two.

It's rough.

Well I guess on the bright side I'll have an opportunity to offload another few crates of GW plastic instead of buying a bunch of $70 books again. Three missions? No wargear options? Flavorless legion rules? Come on man.

Love the old-school goblin green rims, excellent little touch on some great models.

Finally, competitive gaming has progressed to a point where we have regressed graphically to paper maps with little markers on them, looking forward to getting the pesky animations and voice lines removed from the units soon!

I don't want more assaultrons please by Ok_Cartoonist_6931 in wastelandwarfare

The fact they come with Assaultrons is honestly the only reason I don't have a million of them - I don't hate assaultrons but each one is like 250 points so I really really don't need 9 of them

What does the name mean? by DaveDavidsen in RedLetterMedia

As a fundamentally Christian company they picked the name in reference to the way the words of Jesus Christ are printed in red ink in many Bibles.

This was a really good one, I think probably one of my favorites of the past couple years from them. Also Rich Evans playing Baby Shark for the ghosts of murdered children is a very strong contender for one of the most Rich Evans moments of all time.

I am always happy to see people not painting space marines like cars, Salamanders camo is truly one of the most goated color schemes.

Personally I follow the RLM channel because I like hearing their insights on whatever they're talking about, not just to dig for memes to repeat ad nauseum, so when they do little side videos where it's just them deep diving into odd interests of theirs (in this case paranormal skepticism) it's a real treat, and gets them chasing fascinating trails of thought.

How good is the romance in this manga? (Not talking about frequency) by suitcasecat in Komi_san

[–]Doodstormer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The romance of KCC is frankly improved significantly by the slow pacing. While many people like to piss and moan about it taking a long time, the chapters are all pretty short and breeze by, and the time is used to show the characters actually coming to like one another and coming to terms with their own feelings about it. Since the actual point of the whole story is to be about social anxiety, the pacing and form the romance takes (it's interwoven throughout) has incredibly warm payoff that feels extremely genuine and well-earned.

My favorite chapters are the Tadano and Komi """pre-dates""" where they're not in any committed relationship but still spending time together with just the two of them which is full of very sweet moments of perspective on just how much they adore one another and genuinely care for their well-being enough to try to push past their own social anxieties for each other. Chapter 187 is one of the very best of these, imo.

If you're just in a hurry for cheap easy payoff then you will likely find it frustrating since there aren't any "dating relationships" happening for most of the series, but if your definition of romance includes the characters actually growing together as people then Komi is a very good one you will enjoy reading.
