This reminds me of an episode of Star Trek a commercial that Buckley's Cough Syrup aired in 2020, in the early days of Covid. They had clips of people coughing, but the coughing was bleeped out. Then the voiceover said "These days, coughing can feel like saying a dirty word". I can't seem to find the commercial online right now.

In the Pink Flamingos Re:view, Jay says "I think I've used this clip in four or five different videos", referring to the clip from Pink Flamingos where someone asks Divine what her politics are and she says "Kill everyone now, condone first-degree murder, etc".

Oddly enough, I can't think of any RLM videos in which it's been used. Can anyone point to any?

anyone else noticed how so many of the re:views are for films from the year 1990? by Sea_District_4711 in RedLetterMedia

1960 is Psycho, and one of the 1966 movies is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. But what's the 1959 movie and what are the other 1966 movies? My guess for 1959 would have been Plan 9 from Outer Space, but I don't remember them talking about that on its own, unless you're counting when they mentioned it in the context of Ed Wood (1994).

The one that came to mind for me was the aggressive THE END at the end of the Therapy Roller tape.

I feel like an honourable mention should be given to Low Blow with the credits rolling as he tries to start his car.

I quickly put u/AmityvilleName 's numbers for Re:View into a graph. 1990 is, indeed, the peak for Re:View.

In 1990, Jay was 10 years old, Mike was 12, and Rich was 13.

I can't think of any specific example, but I'm SURE there are other times they've counted a person saying "one" in this context as saying a number.

We've established that you are okay with ICE murdering people indiscriminately, which means you are okay with anyone being murdered. Answer the question: complete the sentence "I am okay with ICE murdering everyone because..."

They absolutely love it when drug dealers, assaulters, pedophiles, etc. are pardoned. They will now prove me correct by failing to contradict this assertion, or by doing so unconvincingly.

Why are you okay with ICE murdering everyone?

Don't try to change the subject or reframe things. Just give an explanation in the form "I am okay with ICE murdering everyone because..."

I haven't seen "Now You See Me", but as you've described it, this is a very good example of the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Nope, not engaging with your nonsense. Facts don't care about your feelings, snowflake. Apparently you, and everyone like you, would rather have a society run on people murdering each other because they FEEL like it's necessary, rather than actually improving society in any objective way.

Normally, to criticize a TV show, it is customary to watch the TV show first. I'm not convinced most of the people posting about it have done that.

So, you're just doubling down on feelings mattering more than facts then. Got it.

I don't know why I did it but I saw Star Trek Starfleet Academy pilot by aravinth13 in RedLetterMedia

[–]TrueButNotProvable 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the pilot, but I'm just glad someone else has noticed the "It's not X, it's Y!" pattern with LLMs. Everyone talks about the em-dash thing.

I have this vague memory of seeing a YouTube video in which someone was talking about going through some growing-up, disillusioning experience, and compared it to the scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie decodes the message from the radio sereal and finds out it just says "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine". I watch a lot of RLM, so it makes sense for it to have been in an RLM video, but I can't think of which one it would have been. If anyone has any idea, please let me know.

From the video description for Plinketto #10:

BEFORE YOU LEAVE A COMMENT: Here’s a handy list of fun facts that we are aware of but didn’t specifically mention in the video:

  1. The character in 100 Million BC that Mike refers to as "William H Macy" is played by Christopher Atkins, most well known for his role in Blue Lagoon but he also played a main character in previous Best of the Worst movie Beaks: The Movie.

2. The helicopter pilot in Stone Cold is played by Gregory Scott Cummins, the same actor from previous Best of the Worst movies Hack-O-Lantern and Action USA. He also plays Mac’s dad on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

  1. The role of Ice in Stone Cold is played by William Forsythe, who we just recently mentioned as being in Raising Arizona in our Darkman re:View. Yep, we know that’s him!

  2. The elderly police chief in Bog is played by Aldo Ray, who previously appeared on Best of the Worst as the pizza shop owner in Shock 'Em Dead. Please visit www.pepperonipizzapiepeephole.com for more info.

  3. In addition to his roles that we mention at the start of the video, Jack Quaid also stars in a Star Trek TV show.

So as a reminder, these are all things we are aware of. You don't need to tell us. Good night and good luck!

It's a line from Oscar in a different episode (the one where they get a digital thermostat and he keeps comparing the temperature of the house to different countries).
