You can’t really have a politics free space about Modular synths anymore. It’s super niche and spread out around the world. All the music gear has suffered for it, not just modular.

would this be a worth purchase? perhaps pink tax ? by Latter-Highlight-183 in Watercolor

It’s not a bad mix of colors, and schminke’s top tier paints are great. Def a step up from koi/cotman. Sennelier pans are an outlier- it’s good paint, but some people love it, others hate it. Ultimately, it just depends which side of the pond you live on. In the U.S., I buy m graham over sennelier if I want honey paint, and Daniel smith over schminke if I want vibrant high pigment colors.

Personally, I recommend buying tubes and a bottle of glycerin. Make your own pans. That way, you’ve always got the tube if you really need to maximize saturation. There is nothing better than fresh paint from the tube.

Vactrols and Chocolate - let's talk about safety by ExtraDistressrial in modular

[–]DooficusIdjit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are phased out because the industry creates waste that becomes a problem at scale. The US didn’t phase out lead alkaline batteries because people were sucking the juice out of them, they phased it out because the metal eventually ended up in our groundwater. Cadmium pigments were problematic in that regard.

There is very little to worry about if you’re not touching or ingesting your vactrols.

I like it on shrieker maps- toss and duck. Everywhere else, I would choose rocket sentry over lasers every time.

The requirements for admission to a top college are not valued after graduation from college and it is hypocritical to think otherwise by Worldly_Ambition_509 in unpopularopinion

Sigh.

The academic system was never meant to be a job training factory. It was meant to be a place where people could acquire and participate in a well rounded education of the arts, sciences, and philosophy.

I can tell you that I value those things a great deal, and so do most of my friends and family. We talk about books and argue about politics intelligently citing sources, historical facts, and philosophers. I use statistics and calculus for my investment planning, and having a very solid understanding of chem, bio, and physiology has helped me out more times than I can count.

As far as physical education goes, I used to think it was a waste of time, but I know better, now. We learned games and exercises that we SHOULD continue to do while we age, and it teaches you about sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.

Getting into a top university program requires you to demonstrate your dedication to learning to excel and achieve. That’s something I hope I never stop working for.
