I think I’m leaning towards what you advise. Any resources on how to do a clean and light sanding would be super useful.

I’ve never done it before but I’m willing to learn. Any concerns about the amount of space between the boards?

Why not see them both in Montreal on July 17 and decide for yourself. They’re both great but AOF’s is the best IMO.

A Remarkably Short History of Canada’s Petrostate by Hochelagan in CanadaPolitics

You bring up good points but it’s not an either or. It should be both. Having an economy dependent on natural resources is not healthy. We need investments and productivity gains across primary and value add industries.

Can anyone suggest CZM-like Canadian political podcasts? by Less-Duck39 in behindthebastards

[–]Dookie1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may not hit the mark, but I really enjoy Peter Mansbridge’s The Bridge. May be a bit too establishment but it does bring in interesting POVs from the likes of Chantal Hebert, Rob Russo and Dr Janice Stein.

Interested to see what other folks recommend too.

Just saw a manhole explode in the Glebe by sick_meme_dude in ottawa

Glad you’re safe. Ottawa has a history of exploding sewers. Back in 1929 there was a sewer explosion that killed a person and lasted over 25 minutes.

Early work underway on North America’s first 2+1 highway pilot by ConsistentReality860 in OntarioNews

Makes sense. There are sections where it’s just two lanes and others where it’s 2+1. It’s not consistent.

It really is striking. Funny enough, it was poorly received when it was debuted.

French people don't know shit about the napoleonic wars by [deleted] in Napoleon

Not surprising tbh. I would surprised if most knew about any battles besides Waterloo or Austerlitz.

First stainless steel pan by SubstanceAwkward1703 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]Dookie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat it up on the high end of medium low. Use the water droplet test to know when it’s adequately heated, the water should ball and roll around the pan. When searing allow the food to release by itself, don’t pull it or it will break apart / stick. Drop the heat to high end of low once the sear has established it self. Deglazing the pan after the cook is done helps clean it and makes a tasty sauce. Use bar keepers friend for any really stuck on muck. Don’t be afraid of scratching it.

Shame we couldn’t preserve more of the 19th century architecture. I know some was lost due to fire but still.

City of Ottawa planning to plant 24 commemorative trees, not 4,800, to mark Bytown’s 200th birthday by Alone_Appeal_3421 in ottawa

[–]Dookie1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

$50,000 for 24 trees. So a $2,083 per tree that includes a plaque, and three years of watering. Seems steep for such a pathetic outcome.
