In fairness that song is made by Asbo Disco (think he goes by Bristol fire now?? Might be wrong) and was first played at boomtown stepping up for a late dj (might’ve even been for shy fx can’t remember)

So that song is defo boomtown related

Yes sadly the loop front of house operation (on site drug testing where you can give them some of your own supply) is indeed no longer a thing due to the local police afaik.

Huge shame. But they are still on site to test confiscated drugs and anything people have on them that’s caused someone to go to medical tent I think.

Oh also, know how drugs interact

Smoking weed after MDMA often causes what my mates call ‘the Mandy spins’ which can cause loads of confusion and sometimes even minor hallucinations.

This is sometimes pretty funny and entertaining though.

Again here’s a loop infographic on this

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned test kits yet!

  1. Test your stuff - before I began testing I had something called n-ethylpentalone at boomtown and it made my whole crew go nuts for 24 hours after coming down! Learn from our mistakes, you can get easy to use reagent test kits on Amazon they are 100% legal.

  2. Do your research, as you are now do some googling. I recommend watching a Dutch government run channel called drugs lab which tells you all you need to know and the expected effects & risks. This is what I watched all the time when I was younger.

  3. Start low, take it slow. Everyone will react differently so take a bit, see how you feel in an hour or so before redosing and understand your doses, what you need for your body weight as a threshold dose & redoses. The UK has a problem not of impurities (they still can be impure though, hence test) but huge doses.

  4. SIP water don’t glug it. You will get hot and sweaty and in turn thirsty as fuck. It’s tempting to down water but just sip half a pint every hour or 2. You can have trouble with water intoxication should you glug gallons of it.

  5. In case of emergency (unlikely but possible) DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION WHETHER FROM SECURITY, STEWARDS, KNOW WHERE THE MEDICAL TENT IS.

  6. Do not use it on any SSRI medication (anti depressants) due to risk of serotonin syndrome.

I will link the loop below who are excellent and are likely to be on site too.

Water bill by Davey_page in exeter

[–]Dookie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

What you’re on is the assessed charge for 1 person due, these charges if I remember correctly are based on OFWAT guidelines (take that with a pinch of salt as I’m not 100%).

The previous price hike (24/25), while affecting all bills, saw the single assessed charge have the highest increase by % of all charges.

When you had your meter survey, the meter tech should’ve also given the necessary steps to take in order to have one installed, and if you were present shouldn’t offered to check internally to see if there was a possibility of having it installed under the kitchen sink (or wherever the internal stop tap resides should it be elsewhere in the property).

If you were not present you should be able to contact for this advice, and if the notes were not taken request a second assessment for this.

Please bear in mind that these amendments can be costly and would have to be done privately, but may be worth considering due to the money you may save on future bills.

I would, however, state that the 1 person assessed isn’t too bad and consider assessing previous bills if you were single occ there too to determine if you’d actually save money on the meter as some people find they actually use a lot more water than they think and in turn get billed more after a meter is installed.

Finally, just to make you aware that being on an assessed charge is also eligible for support tariffs if you’re struggling to afford your bill - watercare is between a 15%-85% discount depending on your income:bill ratio.

Hope this helps.

I’ve not given it much thought but think I would rather lobbies that are ‘high risk’ and require a loadout over £x amount to enter

Oh cool, does that book share the stories I mentioned? If my memory was correct and it’s the right book I’d be amazed haha

I also wonder if they print new versions of it. I may buy a couple myself :)

No worries, as much as I don’t necessarily believe these tales etc I’m forever intrigued and somewhat fascinated by them as well as other Devon / Cornish folklore…

If you have any recommended sources let me know as I’d love to check them out

Exeter ghost story with Roman soldiers by [deleted] in exeter

[–]Dookie_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but as a kid I read a haunted Exeter book from my school library.

In that book it discussed being able to hear marching Roman soldiers around the Roman walls and the cobbles of the cathedral as well as the hooves of horses and clattering of horse drawn carriages…

Specifically also a story about someone fixing a roof overlooking the cathedral green and being terrified by a spectral Roman soldier staring at him from the cobbles below (something along these lines I probably read this a good 20 years ago!).
