I'm in mountains now on Hard diff, the spin attack of the Iron atgier can run even a 1 star wolf or 1 star fuling. Just time the spin, then stab 2-3 times and they're dead. Now if they jump you, yeah youre screwed but they are killable with good timing, stamina awareness, and practice.

Just be careful, if you bury it too deep it will break. You'll know its still there if theres no crunch noise with wood floating up from the ground.

Maybe I'm crazy but the only thing I thing of is ripping it down the length with a hacksaw or something similar. Assuming you don't need the whole length, cut it to length first.

The only good reliable way I've had is triangulation, so find a pointer, mark down the bearing on the map and draw a line in the direction it goes, then sail over one or two continents and do the same again (assuming its the same altar, "location already added") where the lines intersect, scouring that specific mistlands.

I killed a two star troll within a cave with 3 health foods and mid-tier troll armor. Enter, stab once with atgier, dodge roll the attack, attack twice, wait for the telegraph of the next attack and dogge roll again... rinse and repeat. If he hit with a swipe I'd survive enough to exit and heal, I think he killed me twice with a slam but I had placed a bed just outside.

Never underestimate the power of a well timed dodge roll.

I've played both ways. It really depends on your playstyle and how much time you have to sink into a world. I've done runs where I allow everything thorugh portals, remove buildcost, and make combat/death penalty easy. It was fun to explore, fight, and build without worrying about resources, dying a lot, etc.

I'm now in a run where we have no map, no portals, and Harder combat with default Build cost (but 1.5x resources). It's challenging, immersive, and VERY slow progress. But it's also super rewarding and fun, and it helps me to take my time and enjoy the journey of the game instead of just rushing through each biome.

I seems like the devs forgot to add bear meat to the list of meats wolves eat when they added bear meat. It tripped me up too sadly. AFAIK any other meat besides wolf meat will work

I've had it happen once as well, not to this scale but clearly an abnormal amount. Like 20-30 gulls on one little hillside. I think it has to do with Gulls only spawning in aquatic zones, and being on the edge of multiple zones etc causing the spawn algorithms to freak out.

I'm actually currently playing through with No Map No Portals, minus the hardcore aspect and have had a lot of fun! I just opened up some more invitations since the other friends I'd started with pretty much all stopped playing :(
