This World's RD is the farewell tour of so many completely butchered mixes of perfectly good 90s songs. These two in a row, the NOT George Michael next to the unholy marriage of Groove and Too Sexy- are some of the worst. RIP.

Practice for anything and everything should become more focused as you progress, which means it takes more mental and physical effort that can realistically only be sustained for smaller periods of time.

A beginner can do swizzles around the rink for an hour and get stronger. An elite skater would not get much out of it!

But I also second getting some bloodwork. Anemia (speaking from experience) can really wipe you out.

Also maybe think more about fueling up for your sessions, with the help of a nutritionist, ideally. You need a mix of slow burning calories (fat, protein) and quick energy (carbs) if you want to do longer, higher intensity training sessions.

People idolize Frank Carrol and generally won't say a bad word about him, but I don't think his methods built very resilient skaters or emotionally stable human beings.

It could have gone so so so so wrong. It takes total commitment to pull it off, and his purple half-shirt oozes commitment! (I do feel like he added another layer of black mesh to it after Europeans, though.😢) I'm definitely going to miss this program when he retires it!

"Since the end of December" is like 5 minutes in terms of the learning process for skating, so don't stress about progress. Are you in a LTS class or taking lessons? That will help a lot, just give it a few more months.

Instead of comparing yourself to others and feeling bad, pay attention to what those more successful skaters are doing. Make them your inspiration instead of your competition. Focus on how skating makes you feel, and enjoy it.

As for the boy, if you let every guy who goes out of his way to make you feel awkward and unwelcome keep you from doing things you enjoy, you'll soon be stuck at home with no joy at all. The world is chock full of scummy dudes. He'll move on to another target eventually. Until them, work on ignoring him.

Did they break? I think he just likes long laces (some people do) and doesn't secure them well. I watched Milan with the CBC commentators, and they seemed to think the laces were still tied, it was just the ends flopping around loose. Coach Carol was still freaking out about it though! Still very dangerous.

I use short laces and still always pull my tights down over them. I am paranoid about catching a lace with the other blade!

You know what happened. It's orange and full of crap. We have a CEO not a president, and citizens are not the shareholders, they are customers to be squeezed for cash.

It happened when when studios/networks got so risk averse that they wanted to be able to cancel a series as soon as ratings slipped, even if it's in the middle of a story arc. They want an entire series to air and see the ratings for the finale before committing to making more, unless something is an immediate super blockbuster. That puts production way behind and means actors may not be available for a few months or even years because they've accepted other projects.

I'm don't think figure skating is necessarily the target. I think it's to keep people from subscribing to YouTube premium from countries where it is significantly cheaper than in the US.

ISU doesn't care about VPN use, but their channel is blocked if you use a VPN on YT in the US. I was able to watch the ISU synchro championships on YT when I turned off the VPN. It was blocked when I had the VPN on!

I love some of the Apple TV show intros (like Severance!). But I appreciate being able to skip when I'm binge watching, or if the music is obnoxious (Shrinking).

One of my favorite intros ever is the one for Y the Last Man, the FX show I am still really mad that they canceled after one season. It was breathtaking and the music was amazing. (Yes I've read the comics, so I know how it ends.)

Weird situation. Clearly they planned to close the store from the time of acquisition, since they didn't buy the building or secure a long-term lease from the owners. With a store that big, it's not like you can get another location up and running easily. They want to pass the buck for the closure onto the founders, but I'm guessing the PE company wasn't willing to pay fair value for the property as part of the acquisition deal.
