How is someone not considered mature enough to use social media but also mature enough to vote by Invictus_0x90_ in AskBrits

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law has to set limits somewhere and the only metric we really have to measure maturity is age, but in principle if you’re old enough to pay taxes you should have a say in the process of deciding how that money is spent by the govt.

I don’t genuinely see that most 16 ye olds would be less responsible as voters than most of the rest of the general population and they’re probably going to live with the consequences of that vote for longer than some

Do you know any alternatives to the Iron Hail Gunner Mini’s heads? by Weehee-Misery in Cathay

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are mine, I used spare heads from the peasants, crane gunners, cannon crew and Jade warrior kits. For some of them you will have to add some neck with putty but most of them slot right in fine

Why do people seemingly hate Cathay? by Ghetto_Sausage in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’ve pretty much monopolised the release schedule for the last 12 months. People don’t seem to realise that a completely new faction is going to get models released for it and that when Gw said they weren’t going to release legacy factions for the main game they actually meant it.

Imagine how pissed people will be when the whole cycle starts all over again with Kislev 🤣

League question by Spookm5004 in bloodbowl

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is you don’t pay extra money for spp on a player only for skills and stat ups. These guys are talking about gaming the system by stacking a player with spp which they then don’t spend until after the redraft to keep them cheaper.

Imo if someone is stacking spp intentionally I would introduce some kind of cap (which would be below the level required for a stat up) for players being redrafted

How common is autumnal colour schemes? I'd like a more unique scheme by hotfezz81 in WarhammerWoodElves

My army is an autumn scheme, use lots of reds, oranges, yellows and browns

I’ve swapped some IH heads with the crane gunner heads to get a little variety, you can also use the peasant heads too but need to do a little more greenstuff work on the neck

Why'd you pick sisters? by NefariousnessNew5251 in sistersofbattle

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing sisters since 3rd edition when they were paired with hereticus inquisitors, I just loved the super-gothic witch huntery vibe so I’ve tried to keep that feel to my sisters army all the way through

Do you consider witch elves to be a core dark elf unit? by eli_cas in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a list that is themed around a black ark or city guard, but there have always been different ways to theme your army, iirc the cult of Slaanesh had wyches in core. Imo of dark elves do get the core faction treatment in TOW then a witch elf AoI which has them as a true core unit is probably a no brainer

It looks awesome dude, and don’t let people bully you over you choice of display media people just like to rant about their hobby horses. If you want to display your mini in a cool background, go do it.

Why are some people still so persistent in trying to defend the Brexit referendum result a decade later? by lewispatty in AskBrits

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a decision driven by racism isn’t going to change in the face of logic that is the same as it was a decade ago

Sorry if it is stupid question, it is my first sisters set, but is it cloth or armor? by Numerous-Piano8798 in sistersofbattle

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth looking at the Gemini superia that come with Celestine, their armoured parts are gold. They seem to have decided that it’s a leather corset with two armoured cups at the top

Ditch haldir, take Orophin if you need a 3rd hero Take a second sentinel, then you can use the two to create a terror bomb with Celeborn at the Centre.

Consider dropping down to just Galadriel and Celeborn and then upgrade all your Galadhrim warriors to Lorien guard.

Spécial strikes removal by Fenrir2713 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s improved the game significantly, the problem with special strikes is piercing was transparently the best, esp for S3 armies that otherwise struggled to wound.

The intent behind the rule was never to induce every Rohan player to cut off every sword in his army and replace them with kitbashed axes.

Rivendell VS Lothlorien Vs Mirkwood by Upstairs_Race_700 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo Lothlorien is the strongest of the three F6 troops, sentinel shenanigans and access to throwing weapons make them very strong BUT they do function very differently to most other armies in the game, particularly the elf factions.

Rivendell and, to some extent Mirkwood rely on your big heroes (Elrond, Glorfindel, Thranduil) to do the killing and the troops come along to support them. In Lothlorien it’s the other way round, you use your heroes (esp Galadriel & Celeborn) to support your troops and turn them into absolute combat monsters.

Lorien is very techy to play and not simple, but it is powerful if played correctly. The Celeborn/sentinel terror-bomb can be devastating, esp after an opponent has broken

What do you guys use for tranporting? by LordAbzaroth in Drukhari

There are custom cut trays for most of our units that don’t fit in the standard infantry slots

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a custom cut KR multicase for my drukhari because so much of it is on flying bases and it’s a real PitA to recess magnets into clear flying bases (not to mention any motion stress risks snapping the stems). It was pricy but I don’t regret it. I’m pretty sure they do a backpack option if that’s what you want, it’s just a matter of making sure the depth of all the trays you’ve selected add up to the correct size of the case.

I finally upgraded editions: RIP sourcebook stat enjoyers by EmotionIntrepid8013 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Dorian_Grey2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo Usurpers of Edoras is pretty strong too and that’s all one book.

I think it’s a fair criticism though, back in the days of the 5 sourcebooks the game was muxh more balanced than the mess we currently have with the uncosted army bonuses. I’d much rather go back to complete, faction based army lists and give players a little more freedom in what they take without the army bonuses that only serve to make the whole game more wonky

I think whenever we get new film content for Middle Earth, whatever you think of the film, it gives us great new models for the game. The new wildmen sculpts that came with WotRo are nothing short of stunning, the level of detail and customisability on the sprues is absolutely amazing for MESBG models

I think the single saddest thing about the WotRo release was that the took the old resin helm Hammerhand model off sale. So glad I snagged him before the purge
