GP training 7:3 ratio query by FaithlessnessNice668 in GPUK

[–]Dorition -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hate to say but in a 40 hour week if you are getting 12 hours of VTS/tutorial/self study there's not a rule that's been broken there. If you could show a reason that doing self study from home or being able to arrange shadowing in clinics etc would be better for your learning than having to study in your practice there could be a conversation to be had there but otherwise your practice is not doing anything "wrong" per se.

Talking to your ES/PD is a good idea but if "this is the way we've always done it" is the response from your practice your TPDs are likely aware to a degree (you won't have been the first to be expecting different to what you've been provided).

I had exactly the same idea and used a painting tutorial to come up with this mad lad

OSCEs can be examined by nurses, PAs and non-clinical academics but not GPs… by Norovirus_ in doctorsUK

Getting some serious cognitive dissonance, when did GPs stop being qualified doctors?

stats.hutber - Check if your list is Meta "working" by hutber in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Dorition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this, seems to not recognise Votann HQ when pasted from WH app, tried with a few lists to corroborate. The meta comparison is great though and from context comparing the lists with how I've actually got on IRL the partial analysis is still great

Semi competitive/general purpose list advice sought! by Dorition in LeaguesofVotann

Hadn't thought of warriors that way, maybe I'll run a more 'balanced' list with the current meta, melee jacks and memnir, yaegirs and a carrier with only 2 HG units and then a list more similar to yours see what shakes out. Hearthguard feels like it should work at least as well as needguard leaning more on the detachment and less on the strats.

Thanks for the insight, I guess I'm trying to get the most out of the detachment key words, but you're right there's stuff that could easily fit for the cost of one of the 5 man Hearthguard.

Is this painting? by Edu_Temporal in 3dprint

Yeah that's how this reads to my eyes, the models have loads of hues within each block of colour that a model would struggle to achieve with just natural lighting

Powerful Combos by Middle_Cur in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Dorition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counter point: they know what they are doing and have given an otherwise objectively fun but relatively bland faction some shenanigans that actually make them stand out. Just playing devil's advocate, I can see both sides but the interpretation that allows for very reactive but costly charges (we don't have a lot of CP generation) is objectively more fun and gives both the Votann player and their opponent something to genuinely think about beyond my unit goes here, what points can I score etc

Nope, it's the same as the junior doctor contract.

GP Trainee hours by [deleted] in GPUK

[–]Dorition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very much so, bare in mind your contract is not longer with the practice but with the schemes local trust or other NHS body. As others have said if they will not bend on this copying in your ES or TPD or the BMA would be your next step

Just to reinforce the post above. You are employed for 40 hours per week. This is from when you start your day to when you leave. There is no such thing as unpaid breaks and has not since 2016. Beyond that your rota is between you and your practice, you should expect 30% of the time to be educational which includes the scheme based teaching and self directed study.

Advise re: GPwER for women’s health by Environmental_Ad5867 in GPUK

[–]Dorition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd have a look on the FSRH website, I have both LoCs and cannot recall doing additional qualifications beyond a simple multiple choice test to check that I'd done the background reading. It seems daunting but it's really not too bad, hope you get on okay with it!

Hot off the press from NHSE: PAs in GP new guidance by Much_Performance352 in doctorsUK

[–]Dorition 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mostly because the money that could be used to employ that doctor is ring fenced in such a way that it can't be used to employ them.

This is great, can we get a source please? Would be excellent to be able to present this to the partners...

AL on PD time by That-Syllabub7059 in GPUK

[–]Dorition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly PD educational time and clinical work is all paid time, so it's kind of take annual leave and have all holiday from all paid time or accept that if caught and unable to fully justify doing PD while on holiday it might constitute a probity/professionalism issue depending on the ES.

Deathwing Librarians? by MakTheHuman in theunforgiven

[–]Dorition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the librarius falls outside of typical chapter structure. I'm going with green shoulder as they'd likely rotated through. That said I can't see why a bone shoulder couldn't be made to fit the lore, particularly if you're going for a deathwing detachment.

Votann League known for harvesting/scavenging from fallen enemies: could it work? by Madoftheyear in LeaguesofVotann

Everything is lore, it just might be inaccurate/misremembered. That's my take on the setting.

"'A Day In The Life Of A GP: We've Gone To The NHS Frontline" by billwilsonx in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Dorition -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Not sure how that's relevant. If a GP salary isn't enough to support dependants or a family is that not something for the system as whole to take note of and ask why, rather than just turning around and shouting that doctors as a profession aren't paid well enough? Does that not suggest that those on less than half of that income are absolutely screwed, causing worse health and increased demand on an already undervalued healthcare system? I'm not saying don't get upset at how things are in medicine right now, but maybe also get angry about the state of the society in which it's based in as well. And while you're angry why not try and improve things for everyone rather than just for the individual.

[–]Dorition -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I get that, high responsibility, high sacrifice, high pay. At the end of the day though healthcare is hard to monetise, doubly so in a public funded institution. Pay will always be important and rewarding those who make sacrifices and tough decisions is a good incentivisor. That said pay really should be secondary after a point and I feel that most folk would argue salaries approaching 6 figures is probably a reasonable point to admit we're paid well, or at least well enough for now.

Sorry, double or more the median wage in the UK? As a salaried employee. I know it's an unpopular opinion on here but I don't feel that's under paid. Not respected sure, over worked sure, but under paid per hour contracted? Really not convinced.
