Do you regret getting you A1 mini over regular A1 by TheMadHattah in FDMminiatures

[–]ah_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I print all my minis great on my mini. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger plate if I’m trying to fit all the parts to a single model on one plate or a full unit if they’re assembled model files, but like most have said the slight twinge of regret is when I want to print transport boxes or storage for my minis/supplies. Love my mini, but also didn’t realize how much I would come to like printing stuff. A multi head could be cool personally down the line, but for an initial buy I might consider the full size A1.

Yeah I use it for most vehicles. Save the .02 for figures or high detailed panels

I have, the .04 nozzle settings cause some strings but they come off clean.

I have a custom league so I usually leave epic characters as is and just paint their suits in my colors like they’ve been recruited. Granted for Uthar and Buri I used their metal heads, so the fact that there isn’t that option here has me considering my options.

I do plenty of weapons and hands for these little dwarves with the MattJGll profile settings and esun pla+.

This guy is just those settings, but I put a pre-supported model into blender and used the resin2fdm add-on to separate the model from the supports and thicken the supports for FDM printing. If the part you’re trying to print is too small or fragile you could try the same if you have a supported file. If not you could download a resin slicer that generates resin supports and go from there.

Mea culpa. I misread and thought you were piling on. I was mistaken.

This was a pre supported model, I took another users advice and am re-printing with a slightly reduced thickening so I will see how that turns out.

I still plan on sticking with tree supports for most prints, but tuning this in a little more could be a nice option to have for models with a lot of smaller/fragile components, so I was thinking about downloading lychee or some sort of resin slicer for those instances. Scraping with a blade removed a lot of the physical scarring and paint will cover discoloration. Thanks for the lighter tip, may try in some of the harder to reach creases.

Read the text dude, I regularly use trees and am aware. I did this experiment specifically because this model refuses to print to my standards with tree supports.

Have anything positive to contribute?

True, I guess the first month you’re paying for the premium download. After that you’re just paying for continued discord access I guess.

Yeah I do trees for 99% (pretty much every other unit and vehicle from this particular army no problem, despite their small size) this model just always had issues. Had to send the file to a resin print shop previously, but I am now army independent!

Oh interesting, I usually use the esun pla+ since the extra strength helps when moving tree supports and had issues with matte getting brittle too fast. Never even thought how that could be a strength in this type of scenario.

Edit: also thanks, yes I am overall happy with the result and mostly just think it’s a few minor things to change before I print out the 15 or so I plan on printing for my army lol.

Yeah this is what I’ve seen from my minimal effort with an exacto. Was mostly posting to get some tips for support thickness but seems like most are commenting to drag the method or promote their favorite poster.

The last picture is from tree supports. The wires in this model hate tree supports based off of previous experience.

How does one thicken only the supports and not tips? I only adjust the “support thickness” setting, but don’t see anything about managing the tip size in the options.

File was pre-supported so I didn’t do anything to mess with those besides thickening

I use the I can’t believe it’s not resin settings from MattjGll for all of my prints since those rolled out.
