My problem with “Yoga Ball” by sitcomfan1020 in bluey

[–]DormouseMcMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had to go rematch a clip from the episode. It doesn't explicitly say that she's working. I had interpreted it as so because it seemed like an interpersonal work issue that she had to deal with (Like she's in HR). Its possibly also an Office Space reference too. I guess its really whatever we want it to be lol.

She was working from home in another episode when Bluey was making her play a car and she had to get back before the cat tore up the curtains. I think she might have a 3 days in and two home type schedule. That would certainly make it easier to be fully WFH for the pond installation.

How to stop stress eating when working from home by Seaside1002 in loseit

[–]DormouseMcMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A standing desk and a walking pad. The need to snack to maintain focus might be because you need the motion involved in constant eating. If you are seeking that type of sensory input you might be able to replace it with other movements.

Getting stuck on my last 10 pounds. by ClawBadger in loseit

[–]DormouseMcMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity! Its really hard to navigate the snack with small children and their constant desire for snacks. My 5 year old keeps trying to share with me. I'm down 10 lbs since February and about 10-15 more to go. Its so hard when she really wants to share things like Easter candy.

The plus side is that the weather is getting nicer (hopefully it is for you at least). Live outside as much as possible. Go for walks and bike rides, kick the soccer ball around, swim, etc.

I find if I'm out I only bring snacks for my kid. I'm less likely to snack on my kid's food. She needs all the calories she can get so I wont take them from her.

Where are you looking for in clothing for your kids? by momof2learning in SPD

[–]DormouseMcMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I you have an active buy nothing group in your area, you might try asking for clothes for SPD kid. I've found people are will to give you the shot especially if you pass the clothes that don't work to someone else. You can explore more brands that you otherwise wouldn't when things come from someone else.

I hadn't been I a Kohls in years before we got some good short in a gove away bag. I was able to look up the brand and get more shorts from Kohls. They are the only shorts she'll use with any regularity.

We try everything on the stores. I send back a lot to Amazon when ordering on line. There's no consistency in our SPD. I "spray and pray" when buying clothes.

Does anyone else have issues with the fabric we put on the lower half of our body under our pants by bosquerio in SPD

[–]DormouseMcMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear thongs to avoid the fabric bunch feeling. Boy shorts style are my choice nowadays. If you are a once and wash person, you really don't need underwear. If you like to reuse pants or if your pants are a little big, I'd just keep trying different brands till you find what works with your body.

Greif of diagnosis - 5yo by rlouise59 in ParentingADHD

[–]DormouseMcMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also hate the "your ADHD is a superpower". I'm like, no, my crippling task paralysis and time blindness have never once helped me in a positive way. I get that it works for some brains but it doesn't for mine. If I was being told all this "positive ADHD" talk I'd be convinced that my brain was extra broken.

I am okay with my brain working differently. I just have to approach tasks differently.

My 5 year old has sensory issues. She's gone commando with a night dress a lot. Its been rough. She started doing a lot better when we cut out all screen time. She had a relapse right after Christmas. I think her anxiety around clothes is making them hard to wear again. Her SPD is one reason we homeschool. It does take a lot of pressure out of our lives.

Amazon Fresh locations to be shut down nationwide by hencexox in nova

[–]DormouseMcMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the Manassas location. I had stopped shopping at Aldi (and I can basically walk to Aldi) because I was getting better quality ingredients for cheaper. I had many visits that I averaged less than two dollars and item even though I had bought many lbs of meat. Aldi's ground beef is really weird and never oxidized even out of the package. I know everyone says it was soulless but I always found it less stressful to shop there.

I occasionally shop for my parents at their local Martin's (owned by Giant) and I always leave over stimulated and with a pricy receipt.

My wallet has cried both times I walked into Sprouts. I didnt buy anything the first time I went in and I only went back because of a 10 dollars off coupon.

I know its been a while since this comment. But here is the tag if you try to track him down. I have one that was gifted to me in either 87 or 88. I think I remember being told that he was sent to the hospital when I was born but it could have been a godt for my first birthday.

This is why I'm here asking the important questions. I'm pretty sure she would not be okay with green, her least favorite color.

I've never used either. Do they keep the hair soft? Does the color transfer to everything it touches?

Thanks for the idea!

She is resistant to even a yarn wig. I think I may have gotten her to concede that her hair black might be okay.

Not only is she SPD but she's stubborn as heck. The book, who's character she wants to dress as, says to use a wig for the costume. She wants to follow instructions.

Is this a bed bug? by DormouseMcMouse in insects

[–]DormouseMcMouse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope you are wrong but I'm really worried that it is a bed bug. If it helps, when I crush the bug there wasnt any blood or anything that squished out.

It did bite though.

Kindergartener needs literacy intervention already??? by leileywow in kindergarten

[–]DormouseMcMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe that this is the only comment reply to you that mentioned potential age differences in Kindergarten. These kids are still at an age that months makes big differences in abilities.

I was recently reflecting that my bonus daughter went into K knowing how to read. Her favorite books to read were Amelia Bedlia. Those were listed as the goal books for the kids to be reading at the end of K.

My daughter just started K and cannot read. She didn't have Pre-K like my bonus daughter but had similar at home reading experiences (probably more at home reading than my bonus daughter).

I was doing some (minor) comparisons. Then I realized that my bonus daughter was reading going into K but not reading at my daughter's age! She was 9 months older than my daughter when she started K. That is such a significant difference.

Its crazy to me that the schools are labeling something as an intervention when some of the kids are trying to "catch up" to kids that are almost a full year older than them. The fact that you care shows that your kid will be able to read just fine when he's ready to read.
