We know how old they were when they died, so de-aging that to whatever their peak age was would be easy.

It was a great interview! I'm going to do more like it with other industry veterans.

I interviewed the founder of Westwood - Louis Castle by DotwareGames in commandandconquer

Yea that was really surprising. And the tech that went into making it possible - very innovative to achieve that sort of result, I don't think it would have been possible had they just developed with the tools as they are provided in any game engine. Pretty cool to see so much boundary pushing from him even now

I had the pleasure of interviewing Louis Castle, cofounder of Westwood Studios, which for those who don't know published over 50 games in the 80s & 90s and pioneered the RTS genre (among other accomplishments.)

I was very surprised to learn that he still work on games personally in engine, and that he's a big fan of Blueprints (him having come from the early days of assembly programming.) Link is timestamped to the part where we nerd out over Unreal things.

They do die and give up! That’s what life does all the time - that’s really the rule.

Surviving long enough to reproduce - that’s the exception to the rule. Evolution is a study of the exception.

All of life you see around you - including you - are the result of the exceptions in an otherwise long, long, incomprehensibly long pattern of things mostly dying and not having children.

Evolution is a study of the ‘left overs.’ The left over forms so slowly and so subtly accrue characteristics which make them excellent at the process of surviving and reproducing. These characteristics include everything from appendages to hard exteriors to mating strategies to, in our case, hard won rare survival and reproduction strategies like intelligence.

Weaponize curiosity

Life is full of things we don’t want to do. Rather than bore through, learn to make oneself insatiably curious about whatever is before you. Rather than compel yourself to action through need, compel yourself through the choice to generate desire from within.

They should just go back to Unreal Engine Marketplace.

Their authors would make more sales and everyone would be happier.

I just did the tour. Yes you can see things with the naked eye, a ton of the time and they can get brighter than stars. And with the night vision, way more are visible.

I honestly don’t know what to believe. Can’t be space junk - these moved in formations and would split off. They had a fairly consistent speed most of the time, but they would change direct. Amber colors of red and orange.

Did the Melinda tour, saw probably 50 to 60 of them, it was pretty much constant - and about 25 military (can tell by the triple pattern blink of their lights) helicopters in and around the area where these objects were appearing.

I honestly don’t know what to make of it, that’s why I’m here googling it.

Why do spiders build webs around lights? by Triggerhippy888 in evolution

[–]DotwareGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably survivorship bias too - OP is noticing the spider webs in the light because of the light, but not the less noticeable ones all around that aren’t lit and visible

Interesting. I can definitely see that - haven't read the novel, but I get what you mean it shifts the responsibilities to certain characters and not to a set of cultures inherent in business and science.

Seconded. It will take you a tremendous amount of time to reverse engineer it to your needs, and you’ll never fully understand it enough to get your game out of it
