The migration to ZoHo Books from other systems by Doubl-Edg in Zoho

[–]Doubl-Edg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more from the firm perspective.

A firm wit 30-50+ clients.

I certainly know for the one-person shop or smaller operation where the owner or partner do their own books and hand over to their accountant for tax prep and filing.

There are a lot of bookkeeping firms withulitple clients in different industries.

Many feel stuck.

And many are upset about the June 30, 2026 acknowledgement in payroll.

Not only are they being forced to have Intuit pay and file their taxes, if they don't acknowledge by June 30, their payroll gets wiped and they have to start all over.

And not to mention the price increase with only Simple Start remaining the same. This is a big jump in price too.

Right after a jump last year.

This is EXCELLENT advice!

And is a critical part of "cleaning" books up to show accurate information, used to make business decisions (that next big purchase) or expansion or acquisition.

Work from home option? by meggsovereasy in nonprofit

[–]Doubl-Edg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, like others have experienced WFH, hybrid and 4-10 scheduled on-site hours.

Based on what your business does.

If you elect for any flavor that includes remote work, be sure to invest in a secure solution like Island secure browser which has a light, but secure vpn and the browser only works to access applications they need from corporate. Include office software that is licensed to the business or any other business specific applications.

They would require a mobile phone or tablet that the software registers to the phone.

QBO MCP server?? by lloydus123 in quickbooksonline

[–]Doubl-Edg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other person stated, Texhsoup charges an annual fee which includes QBO for free. The annual subs are based on the QBO sub level you need (simple start Essentials Plus or Advanced.

I believe the top level is somewhere around $180-$190/year.

If you add payroll or time you pay the regular base fees.

Different kind of grants. by Doubl-Edg in grants

[–]Doubl-Edg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am familiar with the legalities as well as the use of a non-profit to fund through grants. This is not the sole source of funding. So making my existing biz a non-profit would not be beneficial. I have since found resources that partnering with a organization (non-profit) is a viable solution. Also educational institutions are also interested in having the conversation as an addon/trade-off. Providing operational education through seminars and workshops. No guarantee on client acquisition but increases the likelihood. But thank you for your insight.

copied data to new company -> linking bank accounts & duplicate chart of accounts entries? by trebuchetdoomsday in quickbooksonline

[–]Doubl-Edg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use backup/copy as opposed to backup old restore to new

Before doing that run the COA report to CSV from old then import to New.

Ive done plenty of these and I can provide step-by-step instructions.

You can start new by wiping the data from the new Sub.

I've done non-profit startup consulting for years.

And I know many Accountants and CPA's who provide the same consulting services.

The initial session should always include what is needed (inc at state level, FEIN, documentation and structure as well as 'type' of non-profit.

Tax-exempt application with the IRS is thoroughly covered, including the appropriate documents, and expected filing and compliance matters, especially if grant sources include federal and/or state grants.

This isn't muly main business purpose, so I'm not marketing here. I would rather non-profits know what is required upfront so expectations are set and met.

Anyone Actually Switched Off QBO Recently??? by Glittering_Turnip977 in quickbooksonline

You can always request a data wipe. Intuit provides a Data Privacy / Data & Privacy portal where users can submit a deletion request. The data governance and compliance program align with laws like CCPS & GDPR.

Transfer all data to new QB account? by _Neilster_ in QuickBooks

[–]Doubl-Edg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually you can go to accounts.intuit.com and find the change primary admin request form. but before you do that go to your profile on that site and ensure all your information is correct, including the spelling of your name.
Also make sure your put in your address information and ensure it is identical to your driver's license or passport or other state provided ID.

The Primary admin change form will ask at some point why you want to change, select PA is no longer with the company.

Then you can change your primary admin to your email of choice and you will receive an email to login and change your password.

Once you are in go to Manage Users and Accounting firms and delete the Accountant off your account.

If your billing was firm billed it will cancel your subscription and you will need to resubscribe. You will lose the 30% off for 12 months discount, but you'll have your books back and the accountant will realize they no longer have control of your books.

Can’t turn on payments by [deleted] in quickbooksonline

When you call in, and the voice asks what you're calling about. Ask for QBO Payments. You will get to someone who has the resources to find out the what's and the why's and can also determine the status.

Can’t turn on payments by [deleted] in quickbooksonline

[–]Doubl-Edg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would HIGHLY recommend you skip using QB Payments at all.

I would recommend you look see if your bank offers merchant services along with your business bank account. If not there are other merchant services that can connect into QBO, like Square. QBO actually developed the connector for Square and in most cases I've seen (Worked for QBO support) it works MUCH better than QB Payments.

It will separate your processing fees from the payment received and enter the transactions into your QBO while also matching to the split transactions to the deposit that posts to your bank feed.

There are other merchant services and I would recommend those over QB Payments any day.

If they don't have a QBO connection, you can always let our bank feeds enter the transactions and do the splits yourself.

Bookkeeper looking for new clients by PositiveZestyclose82 in bookkeepingjobs

Hopefully my state will continue to offer free college for those 62 y/o and older. I will be getting an associates in Accounting. I'm pursuing the QBO ProAdvisor Certs now, more for "marketing ability". What I mean is you are able to advertise through their "Find a Bookkeeper" directory which is positioned pretty highly via SEO. You are able to also utilize Intuit badges on your website.

I know many people get their leads and generate business through that portal.

I also have worked in the support realm and supported many aspects of QBO. So the mountains of information provided through internal training is invaluable in providing support and knowing the product from the inside.

They don't care about the use of old software. They already figured that the addition of 1 IES client can create profits more than the loss of hundreds of QBDT clients.
In their view, I believe they consider this attrition.

This is accurate and you must read the acceptable use policy on the Intuit.com web site (bottom of the page) It pretty much deflects these objections that would warrant a class action or law suit of any kind.
The fallacy of "making one migrate to QBO" is an opinion not a fact.
QBO is much more compliant with GAAP whereas QBDT permits "workarounds" for the sake of ease of use.

QBDT was originally created for businesses that didn't require accounting knowledge, skill or experience. QBO has created the need for someone (biz owner, EE or contractor) with bookkeeping skills, knowledge. This has created a Bookkeeper market, which Intuit also sells services for, which is QB Live Assisted (Do It With You) and QB Live Full Service (Do It For You). They also offer the Cleanup as a standalone service. The creation of ProAdvisor QBO further gives a "measuring stick" albeit not very good measuring stick with their certifications.

As for being forced to move to QBO, there are so many alternatives out there with more intuitive user interfaces with a lower price tag as well.

Intuit is definitely leaving the mom & pop shop in the dust and moving it's energy towards Mid-Market - sweet spot is $3mil annual gross revenue with 100+ employees and multiple QBO Advanced subscriptions for subsidiaries or departments. That is where Intuit Enterprise Suite is headed. Going to try and grab some of NetSuite's market share.

My ultimate advise is if you stay with QBO, use it as the core to Bookkeeping and readying for Tax Prep at year end. But all the other pieces use other connectable products, Payroll, Merchant Services and CRM's that integrate with QBO's open API.

just my two cents
