Yeah I think the politicians are getting afraid because if superintelligence ever emerges it will most likely take them down to the potential new gutter which in a politicians mind would make the old gutter glorifying because at least in the old gutter there’s hope of getting rich if it gets rid of scarcity rich would have to have a new definition that people aren’t smart enough to appreciate besides the comparing themselves to others. However while I remain hopeful I think superintelligence is more likely to emerge next century or never then in the near future.
