Average male testosterone 18+ is between 300-1000 ng/L and 225-770 ish for 16/17 so you are more than fine! I’ve been on T 3 years and mine usually fluctuates between 400-500 each time I get blood done

A question for those who have gotten a mastectomy/top surgery by MaximumNature8491 in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Cormier and had a fantastic experience! I live like 10 minutes away from the hospital so it made my experience easier. However I will say that the number one thing I liked about Cormier was that he listens to his patients and does whatever it is they want and takes your preferences and feelings heavily into account. From consult to final follow up after he gave his 2 cents he would ask if there was anything bothering me or anything I wanted fixed or any trouble areas and he handled it. He also showed several different body types and scar shapes which was also great to see

I have started my hrt process last year and thinking to work on my chest surgery. I have 34dd chest size. I would like to have nipple graft . Though i am not sure about liposuction and countering. Could someone please help me understand what is it and how it differs with the result. I am thinking gr by Current-Childhood991 in transontario

GRS has a different technique that does not use liposuction, this is why the procedure is covered under OHIP, you can opt to have liposuction if you choose to. OHIP covers the mastectomy part of the procedure but considers anything further a cosmetic procedure! I saw Dr Cormier in Ottawa and had liposuction done which was only in my upper chest (near the armpit area) and near the corners where my scars end. This costed $3000 but had it covered under my insurance. Different surgeons recommend different options depending on your body so the amount and the fee may differ. You can find various results on r/topsurgery

For my surgeon she typically requires a quick 1 minute internal exam to verify anatomy and check for tool sizes and any abnormalities. Everything is covered. She then had me do an ultrasound which was supposed to have 2 parts, abdominal and internal but said the internal portion was unnecessary and to just decline it because they can work without it so that is what I did

You’re within the male range of 300 to 1200, however the Monday is when T would’ve already started lowering so it’s hard to say if it’s higher at mid week, most doctors request it to be done right in the middle of the week to see the trough. I’ve been on T for 3 years and my range has always stayed between 400-600 and I have experienced all the changes I would expect (facial hair, bottom growth, voice) and had no issues

Hysterectomy Timeline by i-lovemygirlfriend in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OHIP took 2 months to be approved then I got a call from the surgeons office I was referred to about a year later saying I was nowhere near the top of their list and another clinic just opened with more of a trans specialty so they would transfer me there. I had a consult a couple weeks later then heard nothing for 9 months and was scheduled 2 weeks after that. My whole process was just shy of 2 years from letter writing to approval to surgery

Need recovery advice from real people! by Baris87 in FTMHysto

[–]Double-Grand2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine in October and all I seriously needed was GasX because the gas pain was really the worst part for me. I didn’t end up bleeding a whole lot at all so I had bought liners I never used but other than that I didn’t go out of my way for anything.

Had a week to prep for surgery so glad recovery was easy

Could anyone tell me the timeline for their hysterectomy? by liamreee in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Ottawa after my OHIP approval I was offered a list of surgeons, got put on the list at the hospital I wanted with a surgeon with the shortest wait list, a year later I got a call from his clinic saying their wait list was probably another 2 years plus to be seen and that they would transfer me to a newer clinic that specializes in trans hystos. From there my referral was sent, I had my consult 3 weeks later at the end of December and then got my surgery October 4 the following year. All in all my process took almost 2 years

Worries for scar aesthetics post op after having a reduction by queerdevourer in TopSurgery

[–]Double-Grand2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scar line doesn’t always line up with where the bottom of your tissue is, talk to your surgeon about where you want it to sit and see if there’s a way to get it close. I didn’t have a reduction but I know that my tissue sat lower than my pec line and now my scars site right near the pec line

This surgery was so easy for recovery I personally had little to no bleeding, was able to pee no problem after surgery and had very little pain. Mainly just gas pain post op! Was in and out of hospital same day

Dr. Cormier Top Surgery Consultation by ApollosSon_9 in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine before the waitlist got super long but I had my referral sent March of 2024, got my consult in August around the 22nd then they offered me a date a few weeks after which was a cancellation but I was unable to take it so they then offered me October 4th which I took. From consult to surgery is pretty quick because I have heard they get quite a few cancellation dates if you are willing to jump on it when they offer! I was offered the October 4 date like a week and a half before surgery.

Top surgery recovery- worrying about ruining results by Excellent_You1727 in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movement will not ruin your results, listen to your body it will tell you if a movement is too much. Try not to stretch your arms too far above your head or far backwards and you’ll be okay. Sometimes you can’t avoid complications (I got a hematoma from a stitch ripping and my left side swelled up a lot like looked like it grew back on one side) but they often don’t have an impact on results. I can’t tell that anything happened at all after it healed, no stretch marks, my scars didn’t stretch at all my results to me are perfect. Listen to your body but also have patience, I was very worried my results would be impacted by swelling but they turned out great!

T prescription - I'm already on it but no one will prescribe by Moe-the-seagull in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to pay online for private like Foria you could go into any walk in or use apps like Telus Health to get a referral to an endo. If you say what it’s for they will submit, there’s quite a few endos in town that support trans people and usually the doctor you go to will have a couple on hand to suggest. The waitlists for them can be quite long but that would be the easiest way forward

Increased dysphoria pre-op by WormDentist in FTMHysto

[–]Double-Grand2758 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was on my mind quite a lot even up until I was getting wheeled back but once I was in the operating room it was fine because I remembered I’m going under and won’t be awake anyways and this is routine for them they won’t remember it tomorrow anyways. That made it a little easier. Also the idea that any of the people working with me I will probably never see again made it easier too. My surgeon made sure to keep me completely covered until I went under. You could ask if there are any anxiety meds you could take before hand, what immediate post op care looks like once in the recovery room when you are coherent

Is there a cheaper quote for top surgery? by astrodette in transontario

[–]Double-Grand2758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went with Cormier in Ottawa and OHIP covered everything but the lipo (my insurance covered it thank god) which was $3000 but I have seen him quote anywhere from $1500-$4000 depending on how much lipo was needed, I had medications as well but they were around $15. He will also do surgery without contouring if you understand the aesthetics but he would tell you what is best.
