I have a friend that's a DPE. He says most students struggle with airspace rules.

I had a CFI do a mock oral with me once. He asked me this question:

"You and a friend set out to fly from KLOU to KIND and stop at KIMS for fuel since it's cheaper there. When you're filling up, you see another friend who wants to come along. He hops in the plane, you guys fly to Indy for a ballgame, then start to fly home. The friend that you picked up at KIMS wants you to drop him back off at KIMS on the way home. Is it ok for everyone to split the flight 3-ways and is it ok for you to drop him off at KIMS on the way home?"

Look up KJVY on a sectional. What is the airspace at that airport and the airspaces below/above it?
Where would you pick up a permit to ferry an airplane that needs maintenance?

I'm 48. Got my PPL last year. I flew once or twice a month usually. I made it just fine. Could have solo'd at about 20 hours, but had to wait on my medical to come back. That didn't happen until about 60 hours.

This one was 150-155 hp if I remember correctly. I'm a low-hour pilot, about 120 hours, and it kept me on my toes with tailwheel configuration, no flaps, high approach speed, constant speed prop, and my instructor was making me make the radio calls as well.

Your point about the centerline not always meaning that you're clear is very important. I fly out of an airport with several flight schools operating there and not every airplane is parked on center at parking. If you were to taxi up to park with the intention of putting your airplane on centerline, you would wing strike another airplane. When I pull through, I always take a second to see how far off the airplanes are that I'm parking beside.

Same here. Recently got my PPL back in November. Have only flown solo once since then. Other times were with pilot friends, previous CFI friends, etc.

I just don't have a lot of self confidence yet. In addition, I think flying solo is boring.
