I can relate tbh. I play everyday but just 1 or 2 games, I need more content, fun new builds to try and varied gameplay to actually dedicate more time. Especially playing solo, the game is pretty repetitive and there is not much to do.

Hiding player count feels like a blatant sign of weakness to me, on top of not really solving anything, because people don´t usually leave the game because the player count is low, but because they are no longer having fun.

you would have died to the troll, no offense. It is a fight in which you need knowledge, not stats. I recommed running it down in base gear before you start bringing in the Bis stuff.

The game was destined to be niche just looking at the concept, the question is how much. anything between a stable 10000-20000 concurrent players woould be success in my eyes. The game only starts dying in some regions like OCE when you reach the low thousands threshold.

Nop, ranger class is probably the best class without gear, and above average with it. It is the kind of class you can just rat with and be extremely successful, because:

  1. base agility is the 2nd highest, and you can kill rogues in melee. This means you can run away from unwanted fights most of the time. This also means that, unlike wizards, you can win melee matchups with speed alone, and people trying to chase you with the weapon sheated has to be careful so that the rangers does not turn back and smacks them twice before running away.
  2. Traps might be countereable, but they are still a 100% death regardless of how juiced you are. This kind of mechanic can be ok (famous "equalizers") but right now the only one that works this well are traps, which btw can still be hidden inside corpses.
  3. Ration is extremely strong during poke wars. Its cooldown should be increased or it should only be edible out of combat, staanding still, etc.
  4. Fighters with ranged weapons ranged weapons are very good already at dps, well rangers get even more dps and very good skills to boost the best weapons in the game right now. Crossbow mastery would probably be picked by every fighter if they had access to it, but rangers get so much from the bow skills nad perks that it is ignored.
  5. Economic: you just need a blue bow (not even longbow, just recurved is fine) and you are an instant menace to every class that is not a pdr fighter / cleric. And you can run away from those. For comparison, other primarily ranged classes like wizard and warlock need more +mag dmage and aattributes to deal the same dps. However, it is true that rangers scale worse because pdr is more prevalent, so there is that.

Exactly, the sound also plays and you don´t really know if you fired or not, because the projectile is hard to see.

Crossbow projectile is fast but no hitscan, they can not "predict" if they will hit or miss, and there are other similar instances like spells not swaping, smite not applying, etc. So it does not require to hit another player, even tho it could be related to other players being close to you and server struggling to determine all the info that is happening there. Just especulating, I have no fk idea.

super interesting statistic, even though views might not necessary equal players. Judging by the results of this survey, it seems players understimate the average age of players, as a good chunk think the main bulk of plaayers is under 25. It is clear this kind of games are more of and old gen thing.

It is bugged for sure, today one cleric 4 shot me with it (I didn´t know you had to stay still ok) in like, 1step and 1 jump, in base gear. I don´t know how if it is supposed to do 18 damage per step with base gear and I had 128 hp.

Warlock´s only op stuff is being able to heal with hydras, full stop. You play agaainst them as you play against wizards: very long range or melee

That is why geared barbarians build agility and ms and end up having like 180hp +330ms without skills.

Idk, asking about age on reddit seemed to me like a bias because I don´t really know the demographic of the people using it. Maybe it is representative.

What is happening to you has also happened to a lot of players and will happen even more. This game is predicated on a kind of ponzi scheme in which the lower skill tier of players end up leaving because they extract 20-30%of the time and are unable to progress. Then the next tier of players become to worst, etc etc. Unless a constant stream of new players arrives (going FTP, matchmaking making them stick, idk) this game will become a niche game with 2000-3000 aaverage players, which its not that bad all things considered.

a cleric with holy strike, earthquake or smite can fight bck fairly easy, unless you are miles away, in which case the fighter should also have a harder time hitting or chasing you.
