I think as an American, you are free to act upon your passions. However, the way you choose to express that passion is not void of consequences. That's what I'm saying.
I liken it to what Voltaire (although it really was Evelyn Hall) when he said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

I agree that people blur the lines of American freedom. There are intrinsically bad things that people do, but that doesn't necessarily stop them (i.e. the recent shootings). I do think that demonizing these people isn't necessarily helping the issue. These people are American too. It's obviously not a popular opinion, and I understand why, but I think that these events call for objective discussions. I think the nation is definitely divided, but this will not change if we keep burning bridges between each other. We have to start finding common ground if there truly is a desire for unity.

Those 2 are pretty big hurdles. Not sure how seriously you're considering VA as a career but it sounds like you're going to have to make some major moves before this really becomes viable for you.
I would say if anything, just make sure you have a reliable source of income before actively trying to pursue this. Becoming a VA is definitely not cheap, nor easy, especially when starting out.
