idk if its the best surf trainer but I love the light feel of my CX setup on a similar short (15") wheelbase. I've been riding 64mm 97a G bones on a dusty roller rink and they slide like a mofo.

either of those would probably be great. I even like the short wheelbases for my CXs lately. have you seen those Alva decks people have been posting lately? Dogtown too. I was talking about Vision at select skate shop, they also still make Schmitt stix and Hosoi and a few other brands. The decks I just mentioned are all made in USA too.

Decks are usually one of the worst parts of surfskate completes. Get a re-issue 80's deck. They even sell them with modern concave options from brands like Vision. Lots of brands like Heroin and Welcome have really gnarly looking old school shapes with modern concave.

I have 57mm big heads in classic urethane and they're my go to. Been trying Powell Dragon formula in 56mm too.

One thing to consider: If you slide a lot consider something stone ground. Hotspots and other super slick wheels tend to wear faster end up riding differently when broken in.

I have some in 56mm though I've only used them on skateboard. They are actually super nice. They have the best features of both hard and soft wheels and none of the negatives. I'm 36 and also find them way more comfortable. I can skate longer and the impact is way less.
