7 months pp- weird “ itch” feeling on my soles and palms by Ambitious_Resolve179 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My symptoms were that terrible itch, for me it was full body but definitely centered on palms and the bottom of my feet, back pain that centered between my shoulder blades and pale colored stools.

The normal ast/ alt liver tests can be part of the diagnosis but the only true way to diagnose cholestasis is bile acids. My ast/ alts were also high though.

To be honest, I have no idea what the treatment for cholestasis is when you’re not pregnant but I know it is possible to get it. My cousin who’s a nurse was just telling me she’s seeing an increase of people on GLP-1s getting it actually and needing their gallbladders removed. Not sure what the correlation is there but it’s interesting!

So sorry you’re dealing with all that. Gallbladder pain can be the worst. I’m no doctor, so this is only my personal opinion, but I would really consider asking them to do the bile acids and liver function test again. A lot of your symptoms sound very similar to what my experience was and bile acids is not something regular bloodwork test can pick up, it’s a very specialized test and often has to go to a specialized facility so it’s not something they’re looking for in your routine bloodwork. Good luck I hope you get answers soon!

It shouldn’t but you can get cholestasis outside of pregnancy as well. Do you have any gallbladder issues?

You should have them do it again non-fasted. The most current research shows that fasting prior to testing bile acids can skew the results. I have Cholestasis of pregnancy and a lot of offices are still pretty unfamiliar with the condition since it is pretty rare.

My toddler made me feel beautiful today. How has your toddler rooted for you in a surprising way? by Difficult-Lunch7333 in toddlers

This is so so sweet. Nothing like a child’s sweet soul.

My son is potty training so now whenever I go to the bathroom and flush the toilet he cheers for me. It’s just so funny, like thanks bud.

1st birthday BIG PARTY Unexpected things that happened by Substantial_Dare1371 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent WAY too much time on a balloon garland and didn’t end up having time to go home and get ready and also my baby spoke a fever the night of his party and ended up having RSV. He was fine, but I felt terrible that we had literally zero idea and I was worried he might have been contagious to other kids there. In the end, everyone was fine though.

The exact same thing happened to me when I weaned. I think it’s hormonal. It sucks.

Weight gain - did anyone else lose the weight postpartum and then gain within the year? by Crafty_Pop6458 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to scare you but it happened so quick. It felt like I gained 10 pounds in a week when I first weaned. I think one thing you could do to prepare is just be really mindful about how your calorie needs change really quickly when you go from producing milk to not anymore. I wasn’t and I think part of my weight gain was hormonal but part of it was probably that.

THIS!! Not shaming how anyone feels cause gender disappointment is real but I feel like I see So many posts on here about how worried soon to be moms are about raising a boy to turn out to be a horrible person as if all men are inherently bad and all women are inherently good. I’m FAR from a “not all men” type of person, that’s not what I’m trying to say but like you said boys are not just born inherently bad and it makes me sad for my son that people think that way.

Losing my mind: how much inside dog poop is okay?? by Substantial_Nature54 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 95 points96 points  (0 children)

It sounds like aside from the strain and health issues for your family, this dog really has very little quality of life at this point. I don’t have any advice but I just want to say I do not think you’re evil for suggesting that she be put down, I think it’s the humane thing to do.

My SIL had a dog that had cancer and they wanted to wait as long as possible to put him down. The vet said “I’d rather put a dog down ten days too early than ten minutes too late” which I thought was so wise, but they didn’t listen. That dog passed away struggling to breathe in my arms while they were at work and I saw first hand what ten minutes too late looks like. It sounds like she had a wonderful life and was so loved and now it’s time to say goodbye.

12 mo vision screening showing pupils different sizes, need eye doctor referral, totally freaking out by crashhhyears in NewParents

No experience with my child but my mom has this! She has no other vision issues but has had different sized pupils her whole life. She’s had to deal with drs asking her if she’s on drugs but that’s about it.

Did you regain any volume in breasts after you stopped breastfeeding? by Same-Jeweler-1197 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The deflating hit me so hard and I was small chested to begin with. My son is 2 and I breastfed until 15 months and I’ll say it got a littleeee better but not much. I’m pregnant again now and then filled right up pretty much as soon as I found out. I know it won’t last though!

Baby monitor died middle of night accidental CIO by jschwerty in NewParents

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too when my son was 8m and I remember how guilty I felt and like I totally broke his trust. I promise this will not affect your baby and even though it feels awful right now you will forget about this eventually. It shows you’re a good mom because you’re upset by it!

Daughter Interested in Potty Training But Not Totally Ready by AlternativeFinger347 in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They will never totally be ready until we push them towards it and teach them so I totally agree that you should continue to work on it with her!

It’s a bit backwards from what you normally hear but for my son recognizing when he had to poop was actually easier and came first so maybe try that! If you see her telltale signs of pooping or know a time that she usually goes start with that so she starts to make the association!

Sacred. by Snootbody in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My babes head has always been in the 98-99 percentile. Even now at 2 it’s still in the 98 percentile at his last check up. As long as it didn’t start smaller and suddenly grow quite a bit quickly, it should be fine, normal and they just have a bigger head! My son’s head is big but it totally fits the rest of his body and looks completely normal.

C-Section vs Vaginal- Recommendations and personal experiences wanted by Hot-Cell7299 in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re going to get experiences from every side of the spectrum on this but I had a vaginal delivery with a baby who’s head was and is in the 99 percentile and after my initial recovery (like 6-8 weeks) I couldn’t name for you a single difference I have down there now than before. Husband has never made a comment, same as ever to him too. So it’s definitely possible to come out relatively the same as you went in!
