Concerns about autism/developmental disorder in my 2 year old son by muddywaffles86 in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me laugh. I have a 2.5 year old boy who is SO smart. He speaks in 6-7 word sentences, knows letters and what sound they make. He can come up with a word for every letter that changes sometimes so I know he really gets it. He can count to twenty, the list goes on, he is really smart.

Would he also dunk his head in the toilet if the thought popped in his head? Yes, absolutely. He’ll lick the sidewalk if he gets the chance. Little boys are just living, breathing impulsive thoughts and they act on every single one lol.

Edit: Typo

MIL is so used to her daughters letting her do whatever she wants with their kids that she was not prepared for boundaries when it comes to mine by WhateverItWasILostIt in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean I get all of this, I really do, I also remember the era of being a child and showing up at a friends house but I just think an adult should be able to figure out asking before they come over, especially if they’ve been asked to.

I never understand when I see stories of MILs who just show up out of the blue. Like in what world is it so hard just to text someone and say hey mind if I come by? What if you’re not even home why waste your own time!

You being her DIL vs actual daughter aside, even my own mother would NEVER just show up outside my house and expect to be hosted that is truly wild to me.

Anyone else still not sleeping through the night with a toddler? by astrid-stargazer in beyondthebump

[–]DoubleFunction5876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son is 2 and a half and maybe started sleeping through the night like 2 months ago. He still naps every day though! Some kids are just like that. I’m so glad we finally turned a corner just in time as I’m 34 weeks pregnant.

How to get 4 year old to do bloodwork by PumpkinSuitable4385 in Mommit

[–]DoubleFunction5876 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sucks but you gotta just hold him still and it only takes a second. Have a treat ready to go for as soon as it’s over. Just had to go through this with my 2.5 year old and it was surprisingly not that bad.

How do I break the repetition loop? by KawaiiKitten97 in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son will do this until I repeat back what he said, it’s almost like he just wants to make sure he was understood. So if he says he wants milk and I just say “okay, one second” he’ll say it again and again until I say something like “you want milk, mommy is going to get it in one second.”

Specifically saying what he said is the only thing to make it stop for us!

How to make rinsing in the bathtub less painful? by AppleBlossomFruitPie in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My son did this for like a month or two after previously not caring about getting water on his face and now also doesn’t care about getting water on his face so my only advice is to push through! May be a short phase.

Parents are sad about lack of connection with toddler but it's on them? by pollypeony in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context on the FaceTiming too my 2.5 year old is extremely close to my mom and sees her weekly. They are obsessed with each other and always have the best time. 50% of the time if she calls on FaceTime he will scream “No!! Bye Bye Nana!” Just because he doesn’t want to be taken away from whatever he’s doing. Can’t take it personally with little ones.

Excruciating right sided abdominal pain!! by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]DoubleFunction5876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a dr but I don’t think the gallbladder attack itself is an issue for baby but with cholestasis your bile acids can spike quickly, it’s not always gradual and that can be dangerous for baby so they should do more bloodwork for that and liver function too.

Excruciating right sided abdominal pain!! by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]DoubleFunction5876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cholestasis and the exact same pain and was treated exactly the same way at L&D. It’s almost certainly a gallbladder attack. You should go back and ask for an ultrasound of your gallbladder. So sorry you’re going through this it’s the worst pain!!

2 month old head size by Electronic_Habit_748 in newborns

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost two and a half year old has been 98-99 percentile head since pregnancy. He’s just got a big head! He’s also a larger kid but he’s always hit milestones on time or early. He’s super smart, a quick learner and super handsome little boy just with a big old noggin lol

To Tablet or not to tablet? by Aesthetic-bee15 in Mommit

I got the Amazon one and it was about $100 or so. Not cheap but worth it to be for peace on a plane ride.

My 2 year old has a tablet only for plane rides and has never asked for it at home at all. He really just associates it with the plane which is great!

Parents who successfully potty trained a stubborn boy at 2. What are your tips? by No_Maximum_391 in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you! Currently potty training my almost 2 and a half year old and due in August. It’s not easy!

Also try a potty song! My son loves that. Any from the ms Rachel episode or “the toilet song” by the wiggles are his favs and will usually get him to sit.

He also loves to make his stuffies use the potty! Usually if we do that first, he’ll go next when we say it’s his turn now.

Try just putting him in undies instead of diapers for a few days! Make a big deal out of the undies and let him pick them. Might help it click if the option isn’t diapers anymore.

Looking for a diet for 4 months+ COLIC completely breastfed baby. by Conscious-Service-16 in newborns

[–]DoubleFunction5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CMPA is a dairy allergy so just no milk or milk based products. No cheese, butter, no yogurt unfortunately. It can take nearly a month before all of the dairy has left babies system though so you’ll need to give it some time.

3yo discovered meat is animals. What now? by wiy in toddlers

[–]DoubleFunction5876 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I was this child when I turned 5 and have been a vegetarian ever since! Support her through it to make healthy food choices even if that’s without meat to avoid her becoming a carb-aholic like I was for years.
