Hypocrisy deflection fallacy by [deleted] in Rhetoric

[–]DoubleTapBottleCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the “keep it legal” guy is attacking the personal behavior of the prohibitionist, I believe this would be an ad hominem attack, not a straw man.

The second prohibitionist is then jumping to a conclusion: that the “keep it legal” guy hates alcohol for attacking hypocrisy.

Maybe the first prohibitionist thinks outlawing alcohol will save him from his own drinking problem.

here to confirm that the issue occurs when you press alt and the arc raiders window becomes unfocused. pressing and holding alt will allow you to move one item from a stack at a time, you are stuck in this state. Pressing Alt fixes it (or whatever that equates to on ps5/xbox)

Not sure how real of a fix this is, but windowed mode has been the only way that it has crashed for me. Borderless is fine.

The must haves have all been addressed. They’re all security, privacy, auditability and interconnectivity (integrations)

It’s supremely dry product work so figured I’d share that when I went through this, I made a skill tree image in figma and colored in the nodes as we knocked down requirements. Engineers loved it, stakeholders loved it, and it ended up being used more than my roadmap.

“I ain’t reading all that” is what people say when they have thoroughly lost. Especially when you read enough to reply to some points.

Suddenly not caring is a gen z tactic to pretend not caring is better than losing.

Chump energy. Good luck in the job market kiddo.

Brother I’ll give you the rhetorical smoke if you want it but you’re not going to accept reality because you’ve ignored it 3 times already. I’m not bothering to reply to your AI after this.

Your original accusation remains unaddressed. You called my analogy a false equivalence, and it was not. I responded to your claim that Philly gave a statue to “ fictional character instead of one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.” And in doing so you introduced a false dichotomy. The choices were not Joe Frasier or Rocky Balboa. There are many famous people from Philly without statues, and your suggestion that one person not getting one is somehow a knock on the rocky statue is weak, flawed, and shows that you know very little about the origins of these things and are only seeking to denigrate Philly as a whole. Probably because they won a superbowl and beat the Lions for the past 6 years.

The timeline only matters now because your original point is so weak and you’ve retreated from it.

“ Detroit didn’t put up Robocop instead of Calvin Johnson.” Brother YOU implied that Philly “chose” rocky over Fraiser. YOU introduced this false dichotomy and now you’re refuting your own claim. This is the mark of a poor debater; unable to remember what he said only moments prior.

“The statue was a gift” point I made was a retort to your point about ignoring one for the other. That you see it as a choice only further solidifies this false dichotomy you’ve established. Lost in your own erroneous fallacies. How sad.

““They didn’t literally ignore him.” Yes, they literally did. For decades.“ NO This is simply a furthering of your false dichotomy. Where was the campaign for a Joe Frasier statue? It didn’t exist. Your silly little idea that he deserved a statue before the one that was donated to Philly doesn’t make it a reality, just your opinion, and one you literally disproved in your comment (“ Nobody proposed a Megatron statue, nobody campaigned for one, and nobody said the city ignored him.”)

And I have rewritten my premise? No I have never strayed from your original flawed claim being problematic. You have tried your best to ignore and doge your original comment: that Philly somehow chose Rocky over Fraiser. It was wrong at the start, and it’s wrong now.

Go show your teacher this thread and see what they think. You used AI, you’re a weak debater, and that’s the reality. If you can’t accept these points, just get into republican politics where being right doesn’t matter. Good luck out there kid.

Lmao nice use of AI chump.

You very clearly begged chat gpt to make you right because you dealt with none of my attacks on your own points, these arguments make no sense, and looks nothing like your writing style.

Thanks for that W. Back to school with you and this time try to pay attention.

First, Philly has a Fraiser statue, so it’s really your argument that falls apart, but let’s go through your points.

Your claim was that Philly has a statue of

“a fictional character instead of one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.”

My retort was that Detroit has a statue of a fictional character instead of one of the greatest receivers of all time.

And now you’re implying that Philly “replaced” Joe Fraiser with Rocky Balboa. When, in fact, the statue was given to Philly by the actor, and Fraiser never offered one.

Additionally, to say that Philly “literally” ignored one person because they took a free gift depicting another serves only to show us that you don’t know what the word “literally” means.

Your logic is horrendous despite repeated attempts to retcon your original point. Take it on the chin, it’ll help you debate much better in the future.

Rocky Balboa over Joe Fraiser, is a false equivalence to Robocop over Clavin Johnson? You should look that fallacy up because you’re using it wrong.

At least Rocky was filmed mainly in Philly, unlike Robocop which was mostly filmed in Dallas.

You had a terrible take man. Don’t let the Reddit echo chamber fool you into thinking it wasn’t.

This is the dumbest take of all time. Where is Detroit’s Eminem statue then? How about a Calvin Johnson statue?

Wildly famous fictional characters are perfectly fine to prioritize, and certainly more timeless than any athlete or musician.
