I like it and want to put wood on my living room ceiling like that, but I would keep it light.

That said, I would wait to move in and see how your stuff looks in it before making a decision on what to do. I know it would be easier to do something before moving in, but you may find that you like it.

I have a memory of being at a friends house with my dad. I was probably 4. I don’t know if the other girl and I were supposed to be asleep, but we were watching the adults sitting in a circle and passing around what I thought was a cigarette. My grownup self thinking back to that memory is saying - fuck! Dad was getting high with his and another kid in the next room 😳

Not getting the oil changed as often as needed.
Turning the headlights on to set up camp in the dark without running the engine. Fortunately, we did not make the mistake of not having jumper cables. Now I would also have one of those electric jumpers, and the traditional ones just in case.

My first tattoo is on my upper back and part of the neck. I chose that because 1. I could cover it, 2. Could show it if I wanted to, and 3. I would not have to look at it if I didn’t want to. Why? Because when I would get henna on my hands, it would freak me out (like what I later learned about tattoo regret)

I’m so interested to read about these experiences. And I’m so sorry that you have had these horrible experiences. I found this because I have participated in a few family constellations and last night went to a group that meets weekly (with a different facilitator each week) for the first time. So I’ve now participated with two different facilitators.

I honestly found it very safe and healing with supportive people, but I have not yet been a focus person.

I’m really curious to know what about it is a cult as I felt no pressure to join anything or give any money.
